It Was A Very Nice Experience And People/ Staff To

It was a very nice experience and people/ staff took great care of us. We always felt safe, which is important in India! I was with a friend and we had an appartment with one bedroom for us 2. The organisation where we worked (EkTara) is doing a wonderful job for those women and children and we really felt that we made a difference in the time we were there. However, what we didn´t like it is that we were the only volunteers and it's a bit expensive for volunteering.

I Would Recommend Any Voluntary Work To Any Person

I would recommend any voluntary work to any person interested on and with strong willingness to do - it takes energies!

Being in contact with children is great, they give you more than what you finally may give them.

The school program may be improved. For example, giving more support to volunteers. One there we had to discover by ourselves the individual level of each student. It is fine, it just take time that is critical specially for short-term experiences.

In my opinion, woman's right program may give more awareness about cultural issues characterizing the Indian region.

Finally, we cannot change the world but anything we can do helps!

Volunteering In Kerala

I really enjoyed my volunteering experience with Rainbow Voluntours and would definitely recommend it to anyone! I spent two weeks in a primary and high school teaching basic English to the most beautiful children. Everyone at Rainbow voluntours were very supportive and genuinely seemed to want to spend time with us- I even got invited for dinner at one staff members home. I loved teaching as well as the great amount of time we had to ourselves. Mh home stay during this time was also really amazing and added to the experience! I will definitely be going back ond day soon!

Brilliant Experience

I volunteered in Kerala because I wanted to take a break from my career and do some travel and something meaningful along the way. I found Rainbow to be very organised and they emailed me a lot of information about India. My volunteer experience with them has been nothing but brilliant - the kids in the school were great and eager to learn, the food was amazing and I enjoyed fort kochi a lot. Its a very relaxed and laid back place. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an experience of India but in a relaxed way. Don't forget to bring mosquito repellents. I was eaten alive!

Easy Volunteer Option

This is a great option for short term volunteers. Fort Kochi city is gorgeous, safe and really welcoming. There are loads of lovely restaurants, shops and markets so it is a nice place to explore when you are not with the school. Rainbow will organise great tours for you on your weekends off.

My homestay was really great, the family made me really welcome and they added to the fun and authenticity of the whole experience.

My volunteering experience was mostly with children in the school, and also with teacher some of the mum's English. They were wonderful people, I really enjoyed it. I had no previous experience of volunteering or teaching, I think if you have experience it is better for the children of course - but the most important think is to be enthusiastic, flexible and caring towards your young charges!

I would recommend Rainbow Volunteers to people who want to add on some volunteer experience to their trip to India. Or if you haven't been to India, it is a very good place to start.

An Amazing Experience!

Rainbow Voluntours was an amazing experience! If I were to do it again (when I do it again!) I will stay longer than 2 weeks, it definately was not long enough. The children make it worthwhile, all very eager to learn, although some struggled greatly with English. In the short time I was there I was happy to see some improvement but would have loved to stay longer to make more of a difference. Staff were very friendly, helpful and encouraging. I felt very supported as well as free to suggest different ideas that were always considered. I enjoyed working with a small group of volunteers to share ideas and spend time with during our time off. As well as the volunteering, the home stay added greatly to my experience. It was great to see such a bond between the family and Rainbow staff! I would recommend this to anyone!

Great Experience

The volunteer teaching program was a great experience which I really enjoyed. I didn't have any experience teaching so the first couple of days were a bit daunting but after day three I felt very comfortable. The kids we're so adorable and they loved interacting with us, just seeing their faces light up when we came in each day was amazing.

A Program With Potential

I had an enriching experience in Kochi with Rainbow VolunTours. I'd say plan for a minimum of two weeks to actually make any sort of difference in the children's lives. By nature, I understand the unpredictable nature of volunteer work, but the program could have benefited a little more structure and collaboration with the teachers. Overall though, a thoroughly positive experience with some flexibility to customize your itinerary.
