Gap Medics is good

As soon as I saw the Gap Medics website I knew I wanted to go and get overseas hospital experience with them and immediately booked my trip.

It took a lot of effort and money to organise my month long stay in Tanzania but the Gap Medics website guided me through every step, preparing me for everything and on top of this they were always on the phone offering advice, addressing problems and reasuring my mum that I would be ok.

Once there I obtained useful hospital knowledge as I was able to observe a mix of ward rounds, inspections and various surgical procedures as well as getting some guided hands on experience. Each week I was in a different department in a group of 2-7 students shadowing a doctor. The doctor were friendly, knowlegable and spoke good English, telling us many things so that when I got home I had gained considerable medical insight.

Everything on my stay was very relaxed timewise. This meant that there wasn't much stress as times were flexible but sometimes we had to wait at the hospital for our doctor for a few hours before they turned up and occasionally I wasn't sure what was going on.

I really enjoyed the accomodation, there was a wonderful feel to the house I stayed in, helped by the staff and the food was delicious.
