This box started out with promise.Unfortunately, the short-comings soon started to materialise.Wont record Family Guy without skipping forward.Humax say they are aware of the problem and are looking into it.That was two years ago and now their customer servicesdont want to know. The latest fault is in the recorded list of programs. If you record two episodes of the same program ,one after the other, and press the i button, you get the same program description for both episodes.Avoid at all costs

No problems so far with my PVR9300T. All functions are very easy to use with from the on screen menu (which is more than can be said for the Panasonic DVR it replaced). Ability to record 2 channels and watch a third is great but no doubt quite standard. Play back feature for current channel useful for those missed bits! Have no complaints, a refreshingly simple device with great utility. Definitely recommend.

Had the Humax PVR9300T for some time now, when i first had it like some of the comments i see on here it did lock up time to time, but since the firmware update the PVR if ok, not locked up for a long time now.
If a recording a series and you do a channel update then it will lose the settings for what you want to record so will have to put them all in again other than that its a good PVR.
Also the function of looking for films only, or sports ect and to type a name of a show for the PVR to find what you was looking for is a good function

My mother-in-law bought this just before Christmas and we set it up on Boxing Day. The set up was incredibly easy - plug it in and off it went. Picture quality was very good and no problems with reception. Problems began when we tried to set up scheduled recording. It's not a very user friendly machine. There are several hoops to leap through to achieve something and the manual is also very complicated. The programme guide does not extend further than seven days, which could be problematic if you were going away for a while and simply wanted to set up a record for a programme sometime beyond that. There is a good scheduling system for beyond seven days, but it's no more advanced than a vcr (basically the 'date + channel' timer system).
We liked the fact that, apparently, any scheduled recording is controlled by an outside source. That is, if the tv broadcast changes times then the machine will adjust accordingly (not tested so we can only rely on the manufacturer's promise).
I would say that this is a good, basic PVR with a few bells and whistles. Unfortunately those bells and whistles are either unnecessary or are difficult to find. The manual needs serious reading and the whole unit needs a fair amount of trial and error usage before you get the hang of it.
My mum-in-law is 70 and she even gets confused with how many remotes she has. She'll work it out but an easier interface would help. BT Vision is better.

it went bust after a few months
i had a sagem before - never any problems with it - till it stopped working after 3 years. All of these units can give problems but sagem is best.

We bought the Humax PVR9300T to replace our Thomson PVR which was no longer supported and so far have been disappointed in comparison to our old box which was over 5 years old and our sons Top Up TV PVR.
The box itself was easy to set up and the picture and sound quality are good. Its also easy enough to record programs and series but no more so than any other PVR I have used. There's also a PIP feature which is very handy although:
The PVR hasn't once managed to catch the beginning of a planned recording. You cannot toggle the subtitles on/off as soon as you have 'time shifted' a programme. You have to open up the guide to view what programmes are on other channels at the same time (although you do have a small screen in the corner to carry on your current viewing). When you change channels the second tuner doesn't stay with your old channel so if you change channels during the adverts for example and don't turn back in time for the restart of the program you cannot rewind back to the end of the adverts.
All the above work fine on the other 2 PVR's. Also the interface looks very dated, not easy on the eye and the controls all seem cumbersome.
All in I wouldn't recommend this PVR although with the right software update it could be a decent unit. The problem is will it ever come?

Humax 500g Hd freesat PVR recorder, £299.99 at Curry's... Bought this at Curry's for Christmas, was told it was the best of the best and a brand new innovative model which would recod all freeway and terrestrial channels including all free HD channels also. Only one in shop so took it, connected it all up exactly as the guide book instructed, plugged it in an zilch! Not a light, no noise, heat - a total disappoinent altogether. Took it back the next day and requested another - they DHL one over after 5 days, all still factory sealed - did the same thing, this one just made an electric crackling noise like it was going to take fire! Took it back and got a refund! Anyone else had this problem? Don't know whether to risk a 3rd from a different shop?

I bought the 9300T about two years ago. For periods of time it works really well. Then it seems to go through periods where it freezes. As a result it is unreliable for recording. When it freezes all I can do is unplug it and then the television guide takes ages to reload. If it wasn't for these problems and the fact that it can only be programmed 8 days ahead it would be a good machine.

The Humax PVR9300 was a very generous present from my brother last Christmas and for the first 9 months there's not really been too many problems and the features are great. However, for the past couple of months the box has kept freezing - sometimes upto 4 times in 1 hour. It started missing recording programmes on a series link which was incredibly frustrating. Then it recorded a programme 3 timers simultaneously then the next programme overwrote that one and recorded 6 times simultaneously. I deleted these programmes. Then the PVR clicked itself off and when I went back on it showed no recorded programmes at all - yet theHDD Control still shows the disk space as used! Very annoying - wouldn't recommend to anyone.

We are overall very please with our Humax PVR9300T 320GB digital box. It does do what is says on the tin and is incredibly useful especially the series link feature. Our main complaint is it only has an 8 day timer which is insufficient when going on holiday. We would like to see the timer capacity increased to 14 days. to date apart from a couple of minor problems it has been hassle free.

After months of signal strength problems with Sky I bought this from Argos and I have been thrilled with it. I can actually watch and record programmes - something I have had difficulty doing with my Sky HD box!!!. It was also really easy to install using the existing cables from Sky.
It took an hour or two to get used to the remote but now I find my way around with ease.
I hope I won't have the problems others seem to have experienced but so far so good and I have finally been able to cancel my Sky subscription :-) .

Humax PVR9300T Serial No485012
We have had this machine since May 2009. Initially it was pretty good, though the screen designs and layout of the control pad are not particularly user friendly. Since around the time of the digital changeover here the machine has been totally unreliable. We regularly switch the whole thing off and back on again after a wait, but this doesn't have any lasting effect.
The two things that are giving problems are:
1. it fails to record scheduled programs,eg soaps
2. it can take ages to move from one position to another using the control pad
In all my long life I have never come across a machine like this. Nearly all electrical of electronic things that we have bought have lasted a full lifetime without any problems, and this one exceeds the total problems over the last 50 years with ease.

I've had this for 2 years now, longer than any of our previous set top boxes which seemed to only last about 6 months before the channels started freezing or not loading. We live in Oxfordshire and have been on a tempory transmitter for over a year now and still manage to get most of the channels despite the weak signal in our area. There are days when we have the usual digital interference and freezing, but far less than with our previous boxes. The record facility is so easy to use, I wonder why video machines made it so difficult. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I am not the greatest with technology of any sort but this Humax PVR9300T 320GB is easy-peasy to operate and I was familiar with all its controls and uses within an hour or two. Using it day in, day out is a doddle - the picture quality from my old Hitachi television is good, the sound is fine and althouth the electronic programme guide isn't the quickest to load I've never had a problem with the time it takes - some days slower than others.
I do have a gripe with the series link recording function which often doesn't do anything of the sort and I've been disappointed, on quite a lot of occasions, when looking forward to watching a programme to discover it hasn't recorded, even though the recording icon appears on the EPG. It seems that the series link doesn't really do the job and you have to check each week that it will record what's been programmed which rather defeats the whole object. My old video recorder did a better job! Other than that rather glaring fault (Personal Video Recorder!!!) the product is a distinct improvement on any so far and the best thing about it is time shift when you are able to pause live television. Now that is something to smile about.

Bought Humax PVR 9300T 320GB nearly two years ago. Unlike other reviewers, have had no problems either before or after digital switchover. Latest software updates have largely solved slow loading of TV guide. Picture quality is great, sound very good. Am just upgrading to HD version, and selling my current model to friend. Can thoroughly recommend this Humax product.

I did not realise that this product (Humax PVR-9300T)had been in production so long.
Anyway, they have cured the noisy fan problem that many of the reviews refer to.
I have rung their helpline twice and have been quite impressed by the quick connection and the advice given.
To me, the product has one major fault. When you look at the list of recorded programmes you do not get a brief description when you settle on them. You have to actually start playing the selection before you can tell what it is about. This is very frustrating if you have recorded a number of films for instance, and you have forgotten what the film was about. My last recorder had this feature and Humax should put it into their models.

Bought mine 2 years ago, and it was wonderful. Last autumn the reception started to deteriorate, with images and sound breaking up. I rang Humax and they were friendly and helpful - replaced the unit without question. The new one worked wonderfully at first, then started to wind down again. And so on. 3 weeks ago they announced an upgrade, and I had perfect pictures for a week, then deterioration again. I can now only get the BBC channels. Humax deny it's anything to do with them, say it must be poor reception (I'm within 5 miles of Crystal Palace), and have stopped even bothering to listen to me. Avoid.

I bought the Humax PVR9300T in July 2009. It worked fine until mid-september when the digital switchover began in Wales, then the controls started freezing, programs did not always record, could not watch a recorded program whilst recording another and epg would take an eternity to load. After phoning Humax helpline, I was assured that ota software was soon coming to fix these problems. This finally arrived at the end of november and was ineffective. In early January I phoned Humax, but after being kept on hold for over 15 minutes gave up and emailed instead. I was once again told that another lot of ota was soon coming. This turned up about 2 months after they said it would and once again was ineffective. I sent another email and got the same tired rubbish about ota software. By this time I was threatening them with watchdog or trading standards if problems were not fixed as they were starting to ignore my emails. No ota software appeared but digital switchover finished in my area and problems stopped. I sent a final email suggesting that humax gave me an extended warranty as the product had not worked correctly for over 6 months and received a reply that my warranty was for 2 years only. I now intend to write to any retail outlets who sell humax and tell them of my experience. I suggest others who have had similar problems do the same, and advise anybody considering buying a humax product DON'T.

Lots of features and nice picture quality, and massive capacity all good. However, keeps losing all the recording settings, freezes every so often, and now 1 month after the end of warranty the screen on the front has packed in. Also, you can never put it on standby as it loses all the schedule which takes ages to repopulate. Not good enough I'm afraid.
