So, this review is about the aferryfreight internet service, not the actual ferry journey that I booked for my 7.5t removals truck. As a one-off event I booked this freight trip from Dover to Calais and return after I realised that I could not book it through my usual website (Ferrycheap.com). I was a bit shocked how much of a difference this trip was to a motorhome on the other website (about £90 vs £290) which I though was similar in size and weight. Anyway, I inquired with the ferry operator directly and received a quote which was some £40 higher than the price I paid on aferryfreight. So, in the end it was an easy saving and booking. The communications/e-mails were straightforward and the journey smooth without any problems. In the end, I can recommend this service.

Very good journey. Nice and friendly staff. Acceptable price. The Ferry needs a little bit of TLC but not dirty. Always again Thanks Eyup

From start to finish nothing was too much trouble. We requested an estimated cost for getting our transit and trailer over to the Isle of Wight...once dates were confirmed and exact measurements requested (to the inch!) more money was saved.....on the day of travel we were ready to leave earlier than expected, after a quick call to customer services it was confirmed within minutes that we could travel on the next ferry - no hassle whatsoever - this also happened on the return journey and again dealt with problem free! I wouldn'nt hesitate to recommend A Ferry Freight they would always be our first port of call!

I was given the job of getting 8 vans unaccompanied from Jersey to Portsmouth. As I had never dealt with anything like this before I needed all the help I could get and that was certainly what I got!! The lady I dealt with was very friendly yet professional and nothing was too much trouble. I would like to thank her for her help when there was a problem with the payment over the bank holiday weekend and would definately recommend dealing with A Ferry Freight. Thank you

The booking part of the experience was the easy part, although because I booked for freight and was using a truck we didn't receive the confirmation immediately. The customer service at aferry was very helpful and friendly, there was one little hiccup at payment as they took the euro amount in sterling the first time so they had to take the full amount(about 600 euros) a second time. I received all the details via e-mail and thought that would be all I needed to travel. But when we got to the ferry port in Italy, we discovered that we needed to go to the actual ferry line (i.d Moby ferry) to get the tickets. It took about 40 minutes of waiting and searching because Moby didn't seem to have any knowledge of the reservation. Fortunately they checked their e-mails and found the booking from aferry,as they asked what goods we transported I said it was perishable and that the truck would need to be plugged in on board. No problem just ask on board they said. And we did but then the staff told us that it was strictly impossible since the power on board didn't match the voltage requested for our truck and they didn't have any way to make it work (or any will to help even). So we had a really worried night no knowing if our shipment would make it to Sardinia or not. As it turned out everything survived but we would have really appreciated if a-ferry had squared things away with the company and with us prior to departure.

I've recently travel with DFDS from Dover to Calais. No problems there. I've booked Business ticket as 2 of my workers and I where going on business to France. Included in the price were free meals, which we had on the way out. However on the way back we were told by very rood waiter that we can get only 2 meals despite it said 3 on the boarding card. How embarrassing for me.I've asked for manager, but the waiter pretended not to understand me,but he understood when I've asked how much.I had to pay extra for the meal. It should have been made clear at the point of booking what is included in the price of the ticket.

Extremely helpful call centre who explained everything very clearly when I booked my horsebox in. Followed up with email the following week for return journey confirmation. This is not the first time I used A Ferry Freight with similar service last time. I used P&O and staff on board couldn't be more considered the fact I travelled a horse on their ship

we booked a 1pm crossing for our driver, however when the booking came through it was for 12pm. So we had to re-arrange with our supplier, then when the driver arrived at the port he was told he could not board the ferry because the van was too long, I called the office and was told the mix-up was at they're end, however he did not make the ferry and had to wait til 1pm anyway which we were initially told was fully booked! This made him an hour late with the supplier and they was not very happy at all! Very bad service!

For me is very easy to book a croossing, whatever if it is a truck or a van crossing. I never encounted any trouble in the last two years since I have start to using the site. Please note that I am from Romania.

Being older I am slightly intimidated with online bookings. I found the aferry website clear & simple to use. Took me no time to booked our van on, including 4m rails on the roof rack. The office later phoned me, on their own accord, to help with flexibility on our return journey. This was above and beyond the call of duty. I found this company good value, easy booking system & excellent customer support. I will not be looking anywhere else in the future for our commercial van transport needs. Thank you to the lady in the office - you provided excellent service.

Aferryfreight's Response to FirstFence1's Review
Written on: 15/08/2013
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your review, here at AFerryFreight we welcome feedback whether good or bad.
We did indeed book you on the 12noon ferry as this was the only time available. As I am sure you can appreciate availability does change constantly, we did email to advise you, giving you the opportunity to make changes if this was not convenient.
With regards to the misdeclaration of the length of vehicle and the resultant delay you experienced at the port, this was not down to ourselves as you booked the vehicle yourself online and entered the length. When the vehicle was measured at port it was found to be 7m and not 6m as you had declared, therefore as you had not paid the correct fare for your vehicle you travel was delayed.
I hope this helps to explain the reason for the delay at port, we do understand that for our customers “time is money”. Whilst we are sorry about the inconvenience caused, in this instance this was out of our control.
Kind Regards
AFerryFreight
