Again I'm going to reiterate so people don't pick up on the WRONG assessment of the car! It's a 2 litre xsi PETROL wer'e talking about here! Great car, good handling and the acceleration in it is awesome. Very spacious inside and quite comfortable for semi bucket seats. For a 2 litre it's suprisingly fuel efficient (well as fuel efficient as a 2 litre can be!) Gareth.

Yes I have to say got my first car which was a Peugeot 307 and I've had it a year now and I do love it, very reliable loads of room for my children and a good runner. Would defo tell a frien d there good car's . An the only problem I have with it is my petrol light came on last night and now won't go off which is a little worrying as I don't no how much petrol I have left, but this is a small problem and will b sorted.

I bought my - Peugeot 307 2L Petrol/Auto/ 5 door hatch - new in Dec'05 and have now done 148,000 km. I do a lot of long distance driving - I regularly drive from Brisbane to Sydney and back (Australia) a round trip of 2100 km and 12 hours driving time with stops, each way. I have owned many cars, of all types, all new, and this has to be the nicest and most driver friendly of them all. It has never missed a beep, a very reliable car. On the open road it has plenty of power, especially on long hills, a very comfortable ride and plenty of room. Great business vehicle. I love it. I have two other luxury cars, but this is my favourite. My only dislike is the red backlighting which makes the Multi-function Display invisible in the bright Australian daytime, I'd much prefer the blue backlight as in the VW Golf, which is visible all day.

As some one else has pointed out already this review is based on the 307 2L XSI thats the PETROL version! I purchased my 307 2 months ago, and I think it is a lovely looking car, handles very well! and if looked after and well maintained is a very reliable car...... However there is just one problem with my car and thats the fact that the boot opens when i open any other door, and it wont stay shut! every time I get out of the car the poxy thing opens and when I go to shut it, the mechanism just rejects and pops back up again! I is driving me mad!! Othwer than that one problem its a fab car.

I bought my 307 2.0 hdi 110 in 2001 new and guess what... 9 years driving it, 178.000km later, I only had one electrical problem! I put it into a Peugeot official garage and the repair was very cheap, only 25 euro for a new encoding part!... I rally love it and I even bought the 2.0 hdi xsi 136bhp, 2nd hand, 120.000km and again, 2 years later, I steel have no problems with it... I recomend both versions.

Worst car I have ever owned. I am taking guilty pleasure in reading these reviews as I'm so glad and so lucky I got rid of my 307 when I had the chance. Purchased second hand from car dealer, nothing but problems with performance & the dreaded "Anti-Pollution Fault".
Turns out the world & his dog knew the 307's poor reputation apart from me!! It was still under warranty from the dealership, so I got a full refund after I fully 'rejected' the car & refused to get in it after the 3rd problem.
AVOID this car at all costs. I wish I'd researched it before I brought it.

These reviews are harsh! Some people should actually check what page this is before writing a review for the WRONG CAR!
Peugeot 307 2.0 XSI is a 16V petrol model, not the 2.0 HDi diesel with all its problems (FAP filter, fly wheel etc). Someone even mentioned a 1.6L car. Please, read the page title!
Anyway, I love my car. It has been great, really stylish and very comfortable (half leathers etc). When it has had problems, I have TAKEN IT TO A DECENT GARAGE!! And they have always been put right straight away for very little cost.
I did suffer a bout of "power loss, cuting out". Took it to a knowledgable Peugeot technician and had it hooked onto a decent diagnostics machine. A £150 coil pack later and its running smooth as a babies bum.
Moaning on the internet about faults and not actually getting them looked at helps no one!
Anyway, I can't really fault Peugot or the 307. It may be a little thirsty on petrol, but thats the price you pay for buying a 2L 16 valve petrol model.

Same problem over and over again, bought it for my wife and worry about the sudden lose of power while she's driving, scary , possiblt of accident at anytime. Same faults, Catalitic converter and antipollution fault, driver window has its own mind, 6CD stacker flashing all the time, loss of power, engine shakes out of nowhere when ideal, afraid to take it to peugot dealer service knowing that they ll hammer me with the bill. ask 2 mechanics , have no clue, tried to clear engine light with a diagnostic machine which has problem itself finding the problem, very weird... I feel that I got riped off badely buying this piece of junk specially from a dealer who I assume is very aware of these problem and said to me engine light could be a vey simple issue like a fuse..mmm!!!! DO NOT EVEN THINK OF BUYING... HAD ENOUGH OF IT.

When it's running properly the car is great, practial and has good performance . But list of repairs in the 9 months I've owned it:
turbo valve and sensor replacement.
2 complete turbo replacements.
1 brake light switch.
1 fuel sensor replacement.
(and that's what I can remember)
just got it back from it's second turbo replacement.
100 miles later.. depolution system fault registered. Turbo failed and also speed control system failure.
Mechanically car is brilliant but what the hell is wrong with it's electrics?

Overall car is good, can be thirsty if driving above 2500 revs, just do simple things like look after the oil, oil filter, plugs, air filter, etc if your lazy with these small things then like all cars things build up and you have a bigger problem, so when it says it needs a sevice in the dash or SERVICE BOOK then do it!!!

My Peugeot 307 2.0 hdi has a problem when you take your foot of the throttle at 30 mph the car still goes at 30 mph for at least 30 seconds or more been told by garage its a turbo problem but they don ' t want to fix it for me great car apart from this problem its a diesel can anybody tell me if they have had the same problem my car is a 54 plate only had it 2 weeks.

I am glad someone else has this problem with the Peugeot 307 of the car still running when you take your foot off accelerator. I recently bought an 04 plate and have had this as an intermittent fault. (along with many others). The garage say nothing is wrong but it keeps on happening. Usually the car judders prior to it happening. I am very concerned that it is going to go into another car or a pedestrian as it also happens in a stop start situation.
I am also worried that the sudden acceleration or juddering will cause skidding if roads are slippery through rain, ice, snow or mud.
I also have many other intermittant faults in a car that I bought less than 3 months ago.

I would recommend the Peugeot 307 for anyone looking to buy a nippy car with quick handling capability and plenty of space. Bought a 1.6 sport last year. Second hand but great fun. Quick, nimble and hasn't let me down.

I think the previous reviewer is a bit harsh. I have now had Pug Diesals for almost 10years and have not yet had a major engine problem with any. The only snagg I can report was a Water pump leak on a 405 GRDT Turbo and the mileage was 110000. Since then I have had 3x306s and a 307 (all turbo diesals). You can burn them heavy footed and have plenty of power and still get 40-45mpg.
I am now currently looking for a newer model (mine is now 6 this august) as I have had it since 17000miles at 14 months old. Looking for either a newer 6speed model, or again the 6speed 407 HDI.

Good looking but bad workmanship. We have an 307 XSi 2004, we have had various recalls for problems, but just 4 years old and 37000 miles on clock. The engine has not gone something to do with missing tooth on cog for timing belt. Now Peugeot had AGREED to pay 100 % of £2500 plus bill. But now still not fixed week later and they have discovered something else broken in engine and we do not know as yet whether this will be paid by them. We used to love this car, now we can not wait to get rid.

I've had two 307's the first was a 3 year old 2.0 hdi d turbo it had 60000 on the clock the problems I had was that the windows had a mind of there own, the cd player stopped working every time i went on the motorway, the warning light light's up like blackpool illuminations and just before i got shut of it i had to carry water with me to stop it over heating. I had it for about half a year then got a corsa and got board of it, then i got my 2nd 307 it was a 5 year old with 92000 on the clock 2.0 16v xsi. Some people said i was mad but i've had it for a year and half and it has never let me down and for some reason i get more mpg then the hdi and it is very comfy, effortless on long trips, it can take abuse on country roads - over all, dont get the hdi diesel get a petrol

It's a sensor in the boot catch, needs replacing but you have to change the whole unit, due to the design. Once done it will work as new
