These cars use the Blue efficiency technology which is a combination of aerodynamics, engine design, and of course type of tyres. All these create one hell of a car. Agrile in handling these cars can throw a punch when driven. The diesel engine has a throaty growl when pushed and has a pleasent note. Interior is pleasant and the instrument cluster is simple and well layed out. The stereo surround system is a gem and given the powerfull sound, the peak performance of the twin turbo engine makes and the agril handling make this one hell of a fun car to drive on country road. I find the the steering is direct, and the suspension is firm. The car is a hybrid of Mercedes sporting DNA packed into a well refined sedan. I gave this car 5 stars because what tipped the scales is its fuel usage. But this has one downfull. I use to flirt with the rather attractive lady at the BP fuel shop who I hardly see anymore because my Merc is so dam economical! But I do popin now and again, toot my horn before I fill my CDI with Deisel. This is one very much loved car

Excellent quality and finish finish of both the externals and internals. Enging is extremely economical, (5.2litres/100km), with excellent responsiveness on both highway and in city traffic. Smooth and adaptive gear box and drive train, outstanding braking and first class safety features. Excellent sound system, GPS Navigation, Auto Windscreen wipers and Air are all great features. I have travelled 64000km to date and the vehicle has been faultless! Perhaps the only factor I fainfd a little annoying is the over supply of buttons to dfo things - still you don't have to user them all!

Well i never thought i would end up with a Mercedes c220cdi elegance, as a young 39 year old ! However, it has offered me something that no other car has, and that is the most exceptional build quality and relaxing drive, which can switch to a sporty one depending upon how you choose to go. The engine is lovely and after the first service feels even smoother and faster. the auto gearbox is wonderful, with hill start assist as standard, it really makes life so much easier. The whole experience has made driving fun and stylish again. I would never go back to a Saab or a BM, even the beloved 325m I once owned seems chavvy next to my new love.

The Mercedes Benz C Class 220 CDi Elegance is better then old C class. 18 inch alloys are must have, also automatic gearbox and leather seats. Car rattles a bit at idle but not a problem.

Low body, speed bumps contact at snail speed/hand brake position... & mechanics, depressing with foot could have being better engineered - (comparing handbrake engineering to remainder of vehicle's systems).
Engine & gearboxes response for city driving more than adequate, cornering around the mountain was found to be comfortable at reasonable speeds.

The Mercedes C220 looks very good to look at it's a Mercedes-Benz, the names just enough and it has a very good diesel engine and it's comfotable on the motorway i like the electronics in the car and i've also driven many cars in my life. Overrall it's a nice car.

Don't buy a Mercedes Benz C Class 220 CDi Elegance, if you want a car to drive. But if you want a car to park on the drive and look good it's a C class for you

As a doctor I do not do a particular big mileage but a lot of stop start driving on short trips. The diesel engine is very responsive and economical and the power sensitive steering excellent at roundabouts and on housing estates as well as narrow windy lanes. The car interior is luxury itself and I liked the Parktronic as an extra as I am always reversing into bollards and my wife is a hopeless parker. There is plenty of room for four people though the head room is a little restricted for my 6 foot 3 inch boys
I went for the pale leather upholstery and found the door sills and surrounds were similarly fitted which have led to unsightly scuff marks which are hard to shift. The split rear seats should not have been an optional extra and the climate control is not intuitive

I had the same vehicle 2001 /2002 and was generally very pleased with my purchase. Quite powerful together with very good economy ( ave 43mpg ) but thought the build quality not as good as my wife's C180 1999 previous model. Mainly more wind noise when travelling on motoways at 70 mph. however driving and handling on the newer model are completely different and far superior.

I found this review not helpful because...it reads like a review from someone with an axe to grind. Reading between the lines in this sparse "review" it looks like the reviewer bought a thrashed second hand car and blames the model rather than the vendor for the failings.
