We joined Utility Warehouse less then 2 years ago and at first really liked the cash back incentive so took on all services apart from their mobile phone (which was far more expensive then our current provider). However the incompetence we have experienced has been breath taking. In brief, their broadband is terrible, for a household of two adults and a baby we were unable to use more than one device at a time and were on occasion getting a measly 0.32 mbps download speed - even lower then their advertised speed of "2 - 5mbps (at least 1mbps)". After several technical staff failing to solve the problem we upgraded to their Fibre for an extra monthly fee. It was a painful, long winded process to upgrade to Fibre which resulted in them somehow managing to damage the phone line and leaving us without any internet connection for a week. Considering I am self employed and needing internet access at home for my business it was an incredibly stressful experience which took many different complaints before anyone resolved the situation. Alongside this we had a second debacle with Utility Warehouse as they attempted to install Smart Meters. Again in brief as this spanned several months the installation company were given the wrong commissioning code so our meters didn't work for months, we had to endure several visits from engineers and eventually both meters had to be reinstalled but at no point would Utility Warehouse take any responsibility for an issue which turned out to be solely theirs. Neither did they bother to check that the new meters worked but instead overcharged us for electricity over several months because the meters were unable to send readings automatically, again something that was only resolved after we discovered the problem. We can not count the hours we have spent on the phone complaining, questioning and despairing with Utility Warehouse staff. They are always polite but being polite doesn't make up for a shockingly incompetent service. We have asked for acknowledgment of the issues and an apology on several occasions but after several months of waiting hold out little hope of this happening. Our recommendation would be to save yourself months of hassle and go with different providers. It is nice to have all your utilities covered by one company but not if that company is Utility Warehouse.
