“Less than 2 years use before faults started with DTi714V”

I fell for the name, De Dietrich sounds so German and hence reliable; a pity I didnt find out until later that it is French and notorious for bad reliability. After 16 months the R/H side started locking up for no good reason, but at least a reset would get it working again. The highlighted safety features NEVER worked, saucepans could spill water all over the hob and it wouldnt cut out, ditto leaving metal implements on active zones. Finally, just over 26 months from new, I had to remove the power while fitting a new oven - and as others have noted on here and other forums, when switching the power back on the hob died, the R/H side is completely dead, and the L/H side shows an unknown error code (unknown as in - it isnt listed by DD AS an error code). When it worked it was great, but for nearly £500 I would expect something that lasts more than a couple of years - the oven I was replacing was over 20 years old!!!

“Nil Points for Service”

Worked fine for three years then it locks for no reason. Can get it to work after a struggle. De Dietrich v unhelpful but say will replace PCB for £159. My usual engineer tells me that DD will not release parts. Hope others read this before thinking of buying

“Beware”

★☆☆☆☆

written by cacciatore on 06/03/2013

Originally bought a de Dietrich induction hob in 2002, it lasted 8 years before 2 zones failed, replaced it with a DTi 1714V. This lasted just over 2 years before 2 zones failed, but we decided to continue using it with the remaining zones. Last week we had an area-wide power cut, and the same evening, when power returned, the hob unit would not work at all. Contacted de Dietrich's after-sales service, who said the restoration of power may have caused a circuit board failure, and they could send an engineer for a call-out fee of £177, plus parts cost. My response: your product must suffer from a design fault if it cannot cope with a power cut (electrical supply has been tested - no problem), and your call-out fee is absurd. We will not buy this, or any other product from de Dietrich, in future, and advise BEWARE!

“Rubbish product”

Same as above, 400 to buy, lasted two years and de Dietrich service attitude is basically 'tough luck, £170 and we'll fix it' with a really hard sell to pay another £170. Well, no thanks de deitrich, I'd rather buy someone else's product than give you another penny.

“Not fit for purpose”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ningham67 on 27/10/2011

The hob cost us £400, and lasted 2 1/2 years. I called out an electrician (£80) who confirmed that there was no problem with the power supply. I contacted De Dietrich and spoke to Rudy in their Technical Department. His attitude was 'tough luck' I wrote to the Senior Customer Support Executive (Helen Purbrick), and I wrote to the Service Director (Greg Teubner), and other than apologising they offered no help or real interest. I spoke to their Technical Manager (Bill Hanratty) and said that I thought that a £400 hob should last longer than 2 1/2 years. I also told him that I thought that the hob was not fit for purpose. He told me that to have the hob repaired would cost me an additional £177 and that it was up to me to prove that it was not fit for purpose! Two of my phone calls to De Dietrich were not returned and there was no hurry in replying to my letters. Ok, the hob is out of its warranty (just), but for £400 I would expect it to have lasted longer than it did. And I would have expected a more professional approach from De Dietrich The hob looks nice and is easy to use, but I will never recommend De Dietrich to anyone. Check other reviews about De Dietrich.
