“Do Not Under Rate This Small DVR ”

★★★☆☆

written by Christianam403 on 14/06/2014

After Reading Some Reviews And Watching Some Videos I Think It Is Great Value For Money. I Have Ordered Mine And It Should Arrive Soon. Hopefully I Do Not Receive A Lemon ( One That Does Not Function ) As They Do Have A Record Of That. Fair Enough It Is Not Perfect But Do Not Under Rate It. For 10 £ Its Is A Great Little Spy / Sports Camera. Good Camera From Others Reviews. Would Recomend.

“Low Resolution and Poor Quality”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 30/12/2012

These are sold very widely on Amazon & Ebay often referred to as the Worlds Smallest High Resolution DV/Voice Camcorder and is commonly sold as a MD80, unfortunately my experience has shown that to be somewhat in-accurate. It records onto a micro SD card. The D001 Mini Sports DVR Video Camera/Voice Recorder is not a MD80 but appears to be a clone of that, looking very similar, the main observable difference is the MD80 has slide switches for mode and power the D001 having all push switches. In use the differences are the MD80 has a white timestamp, yellow on the D001, the D001 is much lower resolution & its angle of view is only around 20 degrees instead of the 60 degrees of the MD80. The D001 records at 720x480 but is obviously up-scaled, the image sensor appearing to be just 320x240 and is definitely not High Resolution (which I believe is 1280x720 minimum) pictures being very 'soft' but the bigger issue is the small angle of view which means the picture looks stuck on zoom & everything jumps around with the slightest movement. I tried using on my bike as that's one thing is advertised for, but results were appalling, so much 'shake' you can rarely make anything out, if you do get it looking in the right direction! Battery life is only around 40 minutes not the advertised 2 hours. The D001 can also be used as a sound-activated voice-recorder too, but sound quality is poor and battery life not much better in that mode either. Avoid.

It Is Not That Bad
For The Price It Is Very Good So Do Not Under Rate It.
I Doubt All D001 / MD80 Are Bad. If You Buy From China Well You Cannot Expect Much. For Around 10 £ - 20 £ They Are Much Better Than 50 £ - 100 £ For An MD80. If You Want A Miniature Spy Camera For 10 £ Then Get An D001.
