Like many here I ended up paying a fee of £79 pound because their operator only gave me partial information on the phone. When directly asked what my credit card details would be used for she replied that they would only be used to debit my account for 50p as a way of checking my identity. I was subsequently shocked to see £79 pound missing from my account. On the phone I did agree to the terms and conditions but I did not notice this fee. Why did the operator not mention this to me? If there is a fee that is not mentioned on the phone this does not feel very transparent! They also said that my compliant was not a common one, but given the huge number of people with the exact same compliant online I do not understand how this is true. I think you should complain to the OFT, a critical mass of complaints will shut them down. Why not contact your local Member of Parliament - they would be pleased to stand up for you and make a name for themselves in the current political and financial climate. It will take everyone who has been treated like this to complain to make a difference though - so what are you waiting for?!

I have been very patient waiting for my Refund from their Refund Department for a service which was never provided. My emails and messages have all been ignored which I have a full file as evidence against them. I even adhered to their stupid Terms and Conditions to wait for my Refund for 6 months having contacted them to complain less than a few hours having complained why they had debited my account a sum of £79.95 without my authorisation back on the 21st June 2013 in which they threatened me. Today I have also added my comments to this site, where there are further comments about their company as well as other sites. Do not become a victim by using this company.

have you got a refund from them, exactly the same incident happened to me?
Written on: 12/03/2014
Not yet, having said that I have made a complaint to the The Financial Ombudsman Service, they will investigate it and make them pay the money back once they have reviewed the case, we are now in the 6th week so I should be hearing from them shortly. You should write to them and just follow the procedure, nothing to lose and you like me may get our money returned.
Whilst writing I should add that this company operates from a house under the following name:
Secret Eye Limited

I made online enquiry about getting a personal loan. I received a call from a private number and I was told this is from finance facility. I was told that they will require my bank account details for a verification payment of £0.25 and this payment will returned to my account after 2 hours.
I check my bank and I found out that they actually took £79.95 from my account. I contacted bank and bank told me that since I gave them my details, the bank can’t do anything.
I made call to finance facility and they said that this is according to their term and conditions. I asked them why they did not mentioned me over the phone, there was no answer and they said that I will not get money back.

Went through an assessment online no mention about £79.95 in fees ,they called me on the phone still no mention of fees ,wanted £6000 all i got was loads of payday lenders then found out the next day they had debited my account the £79.95 (they were in the terms and conditions and I didnt realise) bloody disgusting STAY WELL AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!! rude in reply to emails also threatening.

How did you get your money back? as I believe that the same thing happened to me.
Written on: 15/01/2014
RBS have a Fraud Dept. I contacted them. They immediately put the amount taken into my bank account. Now, they are investigating the Company-with the Police. Excellent Service. I presume other Banks have the same service.
Written on: 12/03/2014
Nope Nationwide refused to refund me.
Written on: 16/01/2014
I also got my money back through the fraud department at the bank whilst they investigated. 2 months passed and i got a call from the bank as they wanted the money back from me.
They had looked into all the terms and conditions and there was nothing that could be done except wait the 6 months and apply as stated in the terms and conditions.
This i have done and just spoke to them to be told they havent recieved my letter. i don't believe them.
Written on: 17/01/2014
Oh Dear. Well, I hadn't gone online..so hadn't 'signed up' to anything...I just got a fone call..'out of the blue.' So I don't see how Terms and Conditions can apply to me. I will let you know the eventual outcome...
written by ReeceJMCooke on 28/12/2013
They never told me that £79 would debit from my account they just told me 50p at the time refusing to give me a refund. There's probably nothing I can do about it now. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy when I rang up to debate with the woman about receiving a refund she was highly rude wouldn't offer help In the slightest! Had to cancel my bank cards to make sure they don't try and pull a fast one over me again! They never did offer me a loan after I signed up. Bag of leeches DON'T GO THERE...!

My mother used this company. They look for lenders for you but charge you £79.95 to your account. When you apply, it is not clear that they charge you it is only in the terms and conditions. when you complain, they say you should of read the terms and conditions! LOADS OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN AFFECTED! Have made formal complaint, they replied, when i tried to take complaint further, they wont reply! waiting to take to the FOS! Ask yourself this question, Would you pay an insurance broker £80 to search for your insurance (confused.com) and even if you didnt take a policy you had £80 debited from your account? Now would you use them!?!?!?!??
Written on: 20/12/2013
I have heard nothing from this company since they took a £79.95 fee from my account, they say they will keep you updated by phone, text and email, that was 8 weeks ago,i think my money has gone for good and there was never going to be a loan offered to me,i have since seen their name mentioned on scambook with many stories like the ones here.

We are currently going through the financial ombudsman service as we feel we have been unfairly treated. The ombudsman has had no contact from this company what so ever. When fos told finance facility they needed to pay this back with compensation, they did reply saying they disagreed. Its now being escalated to the highest ombudsman for review. This company is shambles. report it to fos as they are dealing with loads!!!
written by on 30/11/2013
These people are heartless, praying on the hard up,they will take £80 and offer you a loan with 1plus1 loans requiring a guarantor, which you can get from any number of online loan companies and they have the cheek to call it an unsecured loan, lmao, how the hell can you call it an unsecured loan,if i had someone willing to get a loan for me it would be a damn sight better APR than these sharks are charging. BEWARE AND STEER WELL CLEAR OF Finace Facility. I just wish i had taken the time to read these reviews before contacting them, anyone needing a loan can not afford to get £80 taken.

Praying on the most vulnerable members of society, I hope this company either gains a conscience or is forced to cease trading asap. Having nearly fell for these 'pay a fee to broker and never receive a loan' scams before finalising any agreement on line I actually rang the company direct whilst I filling in application form on line, and specifically asked if they charged any fees. I was assured by the telephone operative that no fees would be charged until loan was finalised. She even volunteered the information that they will take 50p from your debit card to check your identity and card is active, which is then refunded back into your account. So fair enough I agreed their terms and conditions and waited to hear what they could offer. Within minutes I was offered a loan from '1plus1Loans' but unfortunately they required guarantor which I was unable to supply. Not that unusual so although no loan, at least I hadn't lost anything but time. WHAT A MISTAKE - A few days later when my ESA benefit was credited to my account, I was £79.95 short. I rang my bank immediately and was told that The Finance Facility had debited this amount, that morning. I rang them up assuming there had been some sort of error, only to be told by a very superior gentleman (and I'm using the term 'gentleman' very loosely), there was no mistake, and the fact that they had found me a loan offer, even though I didn't match that companies criteria, is enough for them to take the fee. There was no right to cancel, no cooling off period, and it was my fault for not reading their terms and conditions properly!! Yes, I admit I didn't read the fees section of the T&Cs, but then why would I? when I was actually speaking to a member of their staff, a person, not a machine with lines of small print, who told me verbally on the phone there were no fees. Why on earth would a person tell you verbally about a 50p fee, but not mention the £80 one! Ridiculous! I have complained both by phone and email but had no satisfactory response. The stress and worry of this situation even put me back in hospital for a few days. Sadly I can't afford to just give away £80, and I'm currently going through trading standards to try and get my money back, but I know by the companies attitude to date, it's going to be a long, hard battle. BEWARE AND STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!

Yes 1 plus 1 loans is run by the same Director/directors as The Finance Facility (The Secret Eye Limited) as is TFF Loans as well, I was lucky to get mine money back last week of 5 months trying going through FOS. Stand your ground and fight them, they should be ashamed and shut down. Good Luck.

Hi, How did you proceed with this as a matter of principle I am going to go through the process
Written on: 19/11/2013
I phoned the Financial Ombudsmen, they took some questions, gave a reference number, I then filled out a form and sent back to them. Good Luck.

Same here! They offered me two loans, one with 1Plus1 and one with Amigo (both of which require a guarantor, which I don't have). Absolutely devastated that I have been taken in by these idiots :-(
Written on: 12/11/2013
Same has happened to myself, I specifically asked about the fees and was told they were only taken after the loan was finalised and accepted by myself, I then said so I won't pay the fee until I have signed up for a loan to which customer services replied no we don't take anything at all so if you don't get a loan you don't pay anything more fool me the money was debited straight away.
Written on: 12/11/2013
I agree and the same only happened last week, I wish I had read the reviews. They should not be allowed to run a business under false pretences.

Written on: 29/10/2013
I emailed them asking for a refund, they refused, I then told them - I'm reporting them to my BANK and VISA and their reply was -, I must inform you that in the event we do receive anything from your Bank, we are obliged to report you to the Police, SOCA, CIFAS and all other Government Fraud Prevention Agencies. This may have a serious detrimental effect on your ability to hold a Bank Account, let alone obtain any finance. Any costs we may incur in dealing with such are recoverable from you.
My bank have given me a Full refund and VISA have been inform and the emails have been forwarded to them, I strongly recommend you contact your bank have your cards blocked and replaced, and report them to VISA Forwarding them any evidence you have.

I called to query about a loan, they took all me details, asked for my card details so they could do a security check, the took £79.95 out of my account. When I called to complain they said, even though I did not take a loan, I was offered one, therefore I had to pay the money. The girl was rude and stated "I should have read the T&Cs properly" and that "Although they didnt tell me about the fee, they didn't say I wouldn't be charged a fee"!!!

...from not reading the terms & conditions. The one star is not for the fee that they charge (people who say that everyone should read the terms & conditions prior to applying are right; i blame myself for that) but for the way they do it: no mentioning of the fee, just the £0.50 charge in order to check that the account is genuine... I will be following their terms & conditions in order to get the refund after 6 months. I hope i get the money back.

I enquired with this company 6 weeks ago, after realising the extortionate rates I cancelled via their email as I couldn't contact via phone(the ail was received by them!), just been to the bank with my Nan who's pension was paid in, needless to say £79.95 gone!, my Nan had £5 left over, been in contact via phone(finally) and explained it wasn't even my money they had taken and I had to give the money I had to Man leaving me andy 3 kids nothing left for a week, I explained I had cancelled the agreement, they aren't prepared to help at all so I have nothing, now sent a lengthy email to OFT and will Persue in small claims court if the money isn't returned within the week, avoid these extortionists and look for your own no fee loan without their go between high charges.
Written on: 20/08/2013
I enquired for a loan of £2,000 and without me being told anything about the administration charge, my debit account was charged £80.20 on the same day - without my permission. I was shocked and when I tried to reason to get the money back, I was told: Terms and conditions! I was never explained that they will take £80.20.
Please do nto bother with them. Do not give any bank details to them on the phone! I am totally disgusted!
Written on: 21/08/2013
I wasn't made aware of the charges either!, according to the company the standard 14 days reprieve doesn't count to them, strange then that the financial ombudsman bares to differ!, whether they like it or not it's the law and has been for many years, they are no more than unofficial people, good luck with your case, I hope you get your money back x
Written on: 21/08/2013
the 14 days are for lenders not brokers
Written on: 22/08/2013
According to the financial ombudsman and OFT brokers are still obliged to follow the 14 day rule if unsatisfactory information was provided, ie: not being made aware of the charges, which it seems this company regularly do.
Written on: 31/08/2013
I think by signing the t's&C's then actually telling the phone op you have is more than sufficent. Stop and think..... you have only yourself to blame and making up lies to try make yourself look better doesnt wash in my opinion, just forget about it, dont make the same mistake again and move on.
Written on: 02/09/2013
Thanks for your comment but as most companies record their calls I think you will find the OFT and Ombudsman have heard these conversations and ruled against Finance Facility, hence got my money back, I don't tell lies and wish companies took those morals too!
Written on: 02/09/2013
The person on the other side of the line, never told me that they will take out £80.20 from my account. I am left in desolate situation.
Written on: 20/08/2013
I feel so sorry for you and sympathise! The company needs to be closed. I had the same experience and now I have left the matter in the hands of OFT. Not sure what will happen.
Written on: 21/08/2013
I hope you get resolve for your situation, its really not fair how they work.........I have been in touch with the financial ombudsman now, they have 2 weeks left until they need to pay me back or the ombudsman will step things up, which serves them right as they will then incur extra costs and have to also pay me more, I would love to see their faces when it's them being done over and out of pocket instead!!

I came across Finance Facility when scanning the internet for loans and it instantly caught my eye. The online application was quick and simple to fill in and I was contacted not long after sending it off. I was contacted by a lovely lady who I feel was extremely forth coming with everything i wanted to know. I feel the service they provided was fantastic value for money unlike a lot of other brokers they charged a one off fee to act as my personal broker for a 6 month period. I was extremely pleased with the amount of offers I had come and how fast I was paid out by the lender. I’ve made sure to tell everyone I know who needs a hassle free loan to go to the Finance Facility!!
Written on: 04/12/2013
They are rip off merchants so please beware. Their customer service is appalling, shortly after taking your money they don't want to know, don't respond to emails and are excruciatingly rude and unhelpful over the phone. Customer service is so poor in every aspect and they currently have just two guys in the whole company that deal with customer complaints and service. One of them told me that there was nothing I could do to get my money back and even laughed as he said it. Disgusting company.

When i first read about The Finance Facility it said they search for the best loan for you, contact you by phone text and email with regular updates, all lies im afraid. When i discovered they had debited my account to the sum of £79.95 i assumed they would offer me loan.they offered me a guarantor loan.I contacted them to explain that a guarantor loan was not suitable for me,their response was we offered the loan end of story. That was 8 weeks ago,ive had no phone calls from them,no emails from them,no text messages from them.I could get a guarantor loan from any number of online companies myself. This company has not fulfilled any of duties that they advertise for their £79.95 fee and once they have taken your fee you will hear nothing more from them, great job Finance Facility.

When i finally got to speak to someone after many attempts,i was told by a very rude and abrupt man that because they had offered me a loan(guarantor loan) i was NOT entitled to a refund.I explained that i did not have anyone willing to be a guarantor, his response was,we offered you a loan,we keep your £79.95 FEE. I was only wanting to borrow £800,ended up giving them 10% of what i wanted to borrow,The money they took was part of my rent money due the next day,i explained this to them but they didnt care,These people are ruthless to the core and cost me dearly, anyone who thinks they provide a great service had a very different eperince to me and many others by the looks of the reviews here.

He gave me all the imformation that i needed and told me there was. I continued with the bankdetails. He processed my app and i did review a few offers. I.chose the one that i wanted and within a few days i had my money from one of there bank of lenders which i was happy about as they didnt pass me to every tom flick and harry. yes i am on the same planet. no they are not when you argee to the t&c's then you give them consent to take the fee when it is applicable. read the t&c's like i said then come back and comment when you know what you are talking about
Written on: 04/12/2013
The comment above is exactly how their customer service department treats its customers on the telephone, no respect whatsoever, sarcastic and very rude indeed. You'd expect a decent level of service from them seeing as they have just debited your account but unfortunately this couldn't be further from the truth. It's only a matter of time before these guys are on Watchdog/rogue traders or have Dom from the BBC turning up at their offices in Merseyside (really looking forward to that). Did I mention that the company who offer you your loan is actually owned by the same company. That's right folks you'll get offered a loan dependant upon you finding a guarantor by TFF Loans which is owned by Secret Eye Ltd, the same company that owns The Finance Facility. Therefore this automatically means they can take their fee straight away whether you can get a guarantor or not. BE WARNED AND BEWARE FOLKS!

I was searching online for a home improvement and i came across Finance Facility it lpoked ok at the time it stated that we can help people who have a bad credit history. So i went ahead an filled out the online application form and sent it off.I thought now i would get a response in day or 2 but to my amazement i got a call from finanace facility within 10 mins of filling out the online application a guy spoke to me and said that you are interested in the loan amount i asked for he then stated that i accepted our terms and conditions which replied yes i do then he asked mea few more questions at the end he asked me for my debit or credit card details i was shocked i asked him why do you need my card details he replied by saying that it is our policey to ask you so we can verify that you have uk bank account and that you are not a non eu resident. He said that i will take out just 0.50pence and nothing more and the 50p will go back on your card,i said to him you give ypur word that you will only take out 50p he said i give you my word i said because in the past ive had my id stolen and cash taken from my bank account. He then processed my card details and said it has been accepted and your loan has been accepted Within 2 hours i got 3 emails from different lenders but were all gurantors type loans, the chap never mentipned this and sent a email stating that no longer want go ahead with my loan application i got no reply from anyone. Then a week later i noticed that £79.95 had been taken from my account without my knowledge i spoke to my bank and they said that loan company called finance facility took out money today. I rang finance facility and the lady was very rude and said you should of read our t&c b4 applying online. Please! Please! to all decent law abiding tax paying citizens avoid this loan broker company they take £79.95 and you dont even get a loan which you have to apply again to a lender and its 100% NO NO.

I didn't even get a loan and the company took much more money from my account! That was all the money And I was left absolutely broke. I Am a single mother and I found that to be bang out of order, luckily I had sons birthday money from family but I am still suffering now and I also had I go to a food bank which was not something I wanted to do. This company should explain to us refill terms of they contract because to some of us this is a hell lot of money.

I got charged the fee but was offered multiple loans that i was more than happy. for 69.95 id go through this service again because at least unlike other brokers they actually get you offers and only charge the fee once

I was not told that I had to pay a fee of 69:99 for them finding a loan company that "suited me"weather or not i accepted it...when I spoke to a member of their costumer care team, unfortunately the member of staff I got through to had absolutely no intentions of helping me, and was arrogent to the point of rudeness sending me an imtimadating email where he often used capital letters which i deem to be shoutin, not answering questions I had asked him merely giving his opinion!!! Please please please DONOT use this company they are predators of the vulnerable and unscrupulous!!!

I haver gone the Financial Ombudsmen about them, as they were really rude to me, said I was shouting and because I took it up with my bank as well they said I was trying to commit fraud and would take take legal action if the bank didn't return the £69.95 that they refunded. I have recieved my letter from the Financial Ombudsmen and they are now dealing with it. I was told I could apply on June 6th to have my money refunded after 6 months from applying through them.

Complain to the Office of Fair Trading the Financial Ombudsmen service - do not pay, their threats are hot air. If anything like this got to court (which it wouldn't) there is ample evidence that they have did nothing to make their terms and conditions apparent even though they know hoards and hoards of people have complained about their subterfuge. The FOS will also have records to prove just how many people have been duped like this.

I am a young single parent whom at the time was in need of a fast way to fix cash flow problems this was in February this year ontill yesterday I knew nothing of the £79.95 fee as I thought that they were a direct loan company not a broker. I am outraged at the response of the customer care reps who only fob you off at every angle and then when they realise I'm not backing down threaten me with the police. Does anyone no what I should do as this has never happened to me I'm only 22 and have no idea about the laws which are in place to stop them please help !
Thank you

I made online enquiry about getting a personal loan. I received a call from a private number and I was told this is from finance facility. I was told that they will require my bank account details for a verification payment of £0.25 and this payment will returned to my account after 2 hours.
I check my bank and I found out that they actually took £79.95 from my account. I contacted bank and bank told me that since I gave them my details, the bank can’t do anything.
I made call to finance facility and they said that this is according to their term and conditions. I asked them why they did not mentioned me over the phone, there was no answer and they said that I will not get money back.

I have had the same thing happen to me. The money had been taken from my account before I had finshed the call. I called the Finance Facility back to complain an they stated that they were entitled to charge as I had a preliminary offer for a loan. It did not matter that the loan they had arranged was a payday loan and no what I was looking for. I referred this to the FSO and they said under the terms they would provide a refund minus £5 administration costs. If at this point the company did not adhere to the terms and conditions then to refer back to them. I have now waited the 6 months and have attempted to contact the Finance Facility three times and have been un successful so far. I am not sure what the point of the FSO is if they allow such companies to use such underhand practices to exploit vulnerable people. Companies such as this have been referred to the FSO on numerous occasions but still there is no deterrent to make a fast buck. Stay well clear of this Company they are a complete rip off!!!

You need to write to the refunds department
Po box 215 prescot L35 1WA that's the only way you will get a refund . Enclose a self addressed envelope and record the delivery . Also thy are allowed to keep £5 as there fee as this is all there entitled to !!
