Joined Direct dating for a few days, DD sent me an e-mail saying I had 7 e-mails waiting, upon opening I had no e-mails. Lots of gimmicks, bombarded with e-mails from DD saying how many people were looking at my profile. Awaiting a refund under their terms and conditions “the 14 day cooling down period”, when I wrote cancelling my membership after only two days asking for a refund under their terms, I received an e-mail back saying they had cancelled my auto-renewal, this is not what I asked for! Watch this space.....

Cannot believe it. What a waste of money. Have been trying to cancel subscription before renewal only to find I was too late and it had already renewed. Fine print also indicated that it would not be refunded as a renewal. Sooooo annoyed and will not be doing any more dating online. Also found that it was part of match.com, which I had tried already and chose something different as that was also a waste of time, money and effort. Keep well away.

Signed up with a 6-month subscription (my mistake!). As soon as I logged in it became clear that the site is full of fake profiles. I have my suspicions about how these fake profiles get created - I'm sure you can work out what I'm thinking. Within an hour of joining I decided to exercise my right to cancel and receive a refund. I eventually tracked down the customer service form and submitted a ticket. No response. I did it again - no response. I did this five more times, all with no response. I called my card company, repudiated the transaction and blocked any further transactions from them. Also, using the Wayback machine I eventually tracked down a customer service phone number (they don't publish one on their current site) and spoke to a Match.com customer service rep (they're the same company as match.com) who told me he would process a refund. Incidentally, the fact that I've raised a number of support tickets with them has allowed me to calculate that their customers have raised over 3.1 million support tickets (google the German Tank Problem to find out how I did this). I suspect I'm not alone in being unhappy with their service...

I, stupidly, joined paying a 6 month subscription, not cheap! I've been bombarded with emails telling me how popular my profile has been and who had been viewing it. However, when I click on the 'view profile' button I am presented with a raft of member profiles and find I'm unable to locate the particular member I'm looking for. I've wasted so much time going through the FAQ and nothing matches up with the issues I have. I've tried contacting Datong Direct by a phone number stated which is non-existent and sent two emails which do not appear to get sent. Absolute rubbish and so time consuming I'm losing the will to live. There should be legislation in place to protect people such as myself who are simply trying to find a partner from being so ruthlessly exploited.

I have just viewed the site to see what it is like and was actually very shocked when I immediately got so many contacts from my home area of Hereford and a lot of these ladies I can actually say that I would be very happy to contact. But due to investigating all these reviews about the program and it's price and complications many have stated that they had closing their membership when needing to, I'm actually quite worried about this due to it's cost and from the explanations given from so many others that have used it. I really feel like I am letting you down and can understand why you are so frustrated. I genuinely am going to have to think hard about this as it looks like a big financial risk to take. I'm putting this note on here to show that I am actually looking for Mrs Right. Sorry if I don't go ahead with it Ladies Take Care

DON'T waste your money on this pathetic excuse for a dating site, it's daylight robbery and you will NOT find love only pictures some pretty girls who are phantom profiles! I joined before I read the review stupidly , they tool 40 quid off me and I deleted my profile after 2 weeks in discust . I sent courteous emails to over 50 girls who matched my criteria and I matched theirs with no replys , I even contacted a friend via text who had a profile on the website to arrange to contact her , she agreed but guess what we were not able to contact each other through the website even though we were paid up members . Basically you can email to you are blue in the face but messages do not get through ! When I phoned up to complain I was fobbed off with excuses, and the member of staff did a test email which came through fine then she basically insulted me and said that my search was too narrow , by the way my search was to any girl between 34 and 44 in a 100 mile radius ??? They boast about their being 60,000 members online at the moment , how many of these are real . There are loads of better websites out here , please read the reviews on the Internet before you spend good money . And never trust a dating site like Direct Dating that doesn't have a customer number to contact the company !

Just had terrible time on this site with one guy, I was contacted by this man in US army uniform, good looking guy says he's 6' 2" and a Commander, widowed. Says he is on peace keeping mission in Baghdad, if I remember he was registered somewhere in Scotland. I didn't give him any money but watch out for the Pineapple Plantation in Ghana and the son he and the son asked for money a couple of times and that was it, I was out of there. Another nutter fell in love with my picture, we haven't had a date he just keeps emailing me. The clue is he plays a wind instrument.

I took out a 6-month subscription with DatingDirect.com and even though I had cancelled the "auto-renewal" (a ridiculously complicated process that they obviously don't want you to manage to do), 6 months later without warning or any communication at all they stole £137 from my PayPal account. If it wasn't for the PayPal email I received, I would never have known about it unless I happened to spot it on my bank statement some time later as I received no communication from Datingdirect.com at all, even after they took my money - a complete ripoff. DO NOT TRUST DATINGDIRECT.COM AND DO NOT EXPECT PAYPAL TO HELP YOU IN ANY WAY, THEY DON'T CARE EITHER. Match.com appear to be the same company so I wouldn't trust them or Dating Direct.

This site is awful, never came across as many widowed guys in my life, Sometimes they can hardly string a sentence together and ask for money in a round about way. I have reported several profiles and they have never once acknowledged this and the profiles are still there. I cancelled my automatic renewal and they have ignored this and signed me up for a further 3 months, when I complained about this they have no notice of this! 100% I cancelled and it did say membership cancelled. In my opinion don't bother wasting your time or money.

I have just had a bad experience on this site whereby I cancelled the repeat billing, received confirmation...and then the renewal was collected anyway! On querying this I was told that the repeat billing had been reactivated...not by me it hadn't! Numerous emails were met with generic replies of copied and pasted sentences, some of which were not even relevant; a telephone call was met by me being called a liar! My bank is reclaiming the subscription under the Payment Services Regulations 2009 and I anyone in the same situation not to let this despicable company get away with this.

I subscribed for six months and forgot to turn off the auto renew feature as you cannot do this from the website. The account page tells you to go the customer care page, which then directs you to the account page so you just go round in a circle. I found the phone number by chance on the website. I called them after they took £77.94 for another six months to ask if I could have this refunded as wasn't using the site and don't want another six months. The member of staff I spoke to, who was based in Morocco, said no. I asked if I could have a shorter subscription but was again told no. I have submitted a complaint to try and cancel the renewal under distance selling rules but doubt they will return my money now. Avoid this outfit as they are only interested in making money and don't care about ethics or customer service. If you do have an active subscription my advice is to call the number above right now and turn off the auto renew so you don't get stung like the rest of us on here.

The search facility is really bad, one I did revealed 220+ members but all I could view were one page - useless! I only signed up for one month to see how I got on and thank goodness I did, I saved myself money and prolonged misery. Seems to connect you to Match.com too for some unknown reason - why would 2 sites merge as one?, and what is the point of it, same people on both sites!! Cleverley the renew button is next to logout so twice now I renewed my membership trying to log out -clever way to take your money without you possibly noticing. For these reasons I will never use this site again, seem dishonestly managed. It would be good to have, easy, a free 48hrs to give you chance to tour the site before buying, just a thought.

I recently joined Dating Direct. To my surprise, it cost £150 (I think I probably I misunderstood their confusing payment process). I wrote a complaint about this - requesting contact - heard nothing. I then receive a customer satisfaction survey about having spoken to one of their agents (confusing??) - sent it back requesting contact as I had not had any - heard nothing. I now find that my account appears to have been deleted - I have sent them several email complaints about this as I do not understand what has happened - heard nothing. I then tried to set up a new account using my email address - and it was successful??? now even more confused, their site only allows one account per email address I am really, really concerned about this situation as I now cannot access my account to either use it or stop the automated payment system that they have in existence - due to this, I have been advised that they are in breach of contact - can anyone help me to get in touch with someone at this company - it is near impossible to contact them except by email which they appear to completely ignore

I have written two reviews about online dating websites. One was for eHarmony (the good) and this is the other one (the bad) Before I completely stick the knife in I would say I have met several women from this website. And made one really good friend. But there are also massive problems with Datingdirect and the dubious methods they use to get you to sign up. First of all they use fake profiles to view your profile and send you emails to say “10 people have viewed your profile in the last 24 hours”. So they are saying over 1800 women have viewed my profile in the past 6 months. I am not conceited enough to believe that all these women are genuine and even some of them favourite me (all curiously from postcode AB1 in Scotland – or thereabouts). I did sign up thinking “oh who could they be” but they all turned out to be fake with no profiles or details about them. In fact there was even a story about it on BBC 'Scotland Investigates' programme Also to cancel your subscription is nearly impossible there are no phone numbers and no clear procedures. I would advise people to send emails as well as using the unsubscribe feature from the website otherwise you could end up paying for another 6 months. I have complained to watchdog, I have complained to Which consumer magazine and I have had to get my credit card company involved so I could get my money back.

I have just read lots of negative reviews of the site but I disagree with most of the comments. I think the men who have failed its because they would have trouble in a brothel! I have dated perhaps 50 women and i have had 4 or so proper relationships and maybe a dozen short ones in the time i have been on here. Men who expect women to throw themselves at them live in a fantasy world, work at it and you will have sucess, I certainly have!

I spend about 90% of my time on this site weeding out fake profiles. Even today I had contact from a fake girl using the pictures from another fake from a week ago who had stole them from another genuine profile on the same site. When I politely told them to f off they replied with a message asking me for my email so they could chat with me. So how fake or stupid are they? As far as DD are concerned I have been on here long enough to know better and will not refund my money. 10 fake profiles so far this evening and still counting.
