I took out a Tesco credit card because my credit rating meant it was difficult for me to get a card with other banks.
They gave me a £1000 credit limit, but I was not aware that this is not a hard limit and it will let you go over the £1000 and they will then stick you with a £12 fee even if you only went over by a couple of pounds.
I rang their customer services and was told that this is because Mastercard let big stores charge your card without checking your credit limit. So they were basically passing the buck blaming the stores and Mastercard and that it wasn't their fault so were unwilling to refund the charges.
They don't even offer very much in the way of rewards for using the card, you get 1 clubcard point (worth a penny) for every £8 you spend, and it has to be in one transaction, if you spend £5 in one shop and then £3 in another you get no points at all for these 2 transactions.
