I used the post office credit card a couple of years back, using their '0% interest charges' for a year and it all went fine. When I needed to use a credit card abroad again, I contacted the post office and asked if it was possible that the same offer of 0% interest, etc for a certain time was still available and was told yes. After discussing all the details to make sure I really was getting the same deal as before, I agreed and went on holiday, using my card. Later, when I received my statement I noticed I'd been charged interest. I phoned them, and the guy said he'd switch me to what I'd asked for in the beginning. I phoned again a week of so later to ensure everything had been done, and lo and behold - nothing had, and the interest was mounting up. Why would I have phoned them twice, asking if I could use the card I already had, and could I have their standard charge rating please!!! I was really angry having been told twice that I'd get the 0% interest offer and put through a complaint. After waiting 8 weeks, I've received a letter telling me that what I said happened, didnt and the interest stands!!! Basically its my word against theirs, and I cant be bothered to fight this through the ombudsman. But beware people, that even if you talk to the Post Office staff, if they make a mistake and mess up your account, you'll be the one who it goes against.
I'm not the sort of person who makes an agreement with a financial company without getting all the facts absolutely correct - especially twice! - and I know there was no misunderstanding on my part when the credit card details were discussed.
