Better than others, basic information for free

Right. I've just spent the evening trying to get my credit rating after being refused a pay monthly mobile contract with VM (for £12 a month!!). They said that Equifax gave a "no" answer on their computer, and that I should check with them if I had an issue with that.

I then signed up to the Equifax "30 day free trial", and was told (after inputting credit card information) that I needed to call a premium rate number to "complete my application". A quick look on this site confirmed my suspicions- they are people who try to nick money from you at every opportunity.

So, I was going to use Experian (CreditExpert) but found similar "they are rubbish" reviews on here, so went with Noddle, on the basis of reviews here and the fact that they are the 3rd Credit rating agency. It says it is free forever, so I signed up and put in info (including credit card info for identity purposes..).

After getting an email and finishing the application, I was shown my rating: 4/5. As a recent graduate with no student loan, plenty of savings, no debt (ever) and a fully-paid off credit card for the last 6 months, this was more what I was expecting.

Obviously there is something wrong with my Equifax rating, but I was happy enough with the Noddle conclusion to not pursue it further for now and go through another route for my mobile contract.

Sorry for the essay, but if at least one person can relate to this story and be helped out, then that's my evening less wasted.

Basically- it has basic information, is free (forever) and gives you a basic rating. Nothing more, nothing less.
