“My phone caused issues today when I was trying to take...”

My phone caused issues today when I was trying to take part in a zoom call and I was unable to access/ turn off/ reset. I visited the western computers store in Cheltenham this afternoon where in seconds it was all resolved. Extremely friendly and helpful staff member.

“Very disappointed ”

Purchased I phone 13 Pro at Oxford store in June 2022. The camera only works intermittently, it often freezes . Sometimes if I switch off the phone and then switch back on again it will work. I have been into the shop twice , but because the problem is intermittent I haven’t been able to demonstrate it. Apparently because they haven’t seen the fault they are unable to send it to be looked at by their technical department. There is absolutely nothing they can do to help. How can they justify this total lack of customer support

“Worst Customer Experience for ages ”

After calling their central support , I was advised to take my iMac to the store for the staff to assess. they would run diagnostics ( for a cost) and then be able to specify all hardware / software issues and fixes required. No need to book just roll up. So I did . The staff had a completely different story to the service line. No diagnostics offered , the staff member said I needed a new hard drive without so much as turning the machine on. The store were not interested in even looking into the problem. They said that their 'support line' that I had called were useless and "did not know what they were talking about". When I asked if the hard drive replacement ( a week in the shop btw) would be reversed if it did not fix the issues , I was told no , there are no guarantees. I suggested that they needed to look at sorting themselves out, as a result of bad advice , and the lack of any real interest in looking into my problems , I had wasted considerable time and money. I left the store as a "never to be customer" . Some 'manager' fellow who had materialised from a back room but not participated in the conversation then followed me out of the store saying things like "If you don't want to be a customer get out of my store" and " you are abusing my staff". I had simply expressed my displeasure at their approach , and suggested they get their act together so other people did not waste time and money coming to their shop under false pretences. Once at the door the "manager ( loose term)" tried to close the door in my face. Once I stopped that , I asked for his name , which as he was so polite and customer focused he refused to divulge. Truly one of the worst customer service experiences of recent times. My advice to anyone considering taking any business to Western Computers , particularly the Leamington Spa branch, should think again.

“AWFUL COMPANY”

I took my macbook in for a replacement screen a week before my A levels needed to be handed in. With this explained to them, that under no circumstances I could loose my data as it wasn’t backed up they proceeded to get my laptop into such a state it was unrepairable. They offered to replace the board they had broken but at risk of wiping my device. Obviously this wasn’t an option due to my A levels being in a week. They recommended taking it to a data specialist which I did and who struggled to get the data off as the components inside the laptop had been fried. This couldn’t has happened from my laptop falling off my bed. However, when emailing western computers they insisted it wasn’t their fault which is obviously not true. I am now left without a laptop after they were the ones who fried it. This is not something, I would expect from an apple verified company and I am now bringing up this case with apple themselves. If I could give 0 stars I would!

“Dreadful after service ”

I’ve been a customer of Western Computers for a long time- not quite sure how many years. I have purchased a few big ticket items from them.My last big purchase was an IMAC. The problems started soon after I got the machine home. I don’t do any heavy processing on my computers, just email, Word and Excel really so the machine should run fast, it’s an Apple after all and that’s why I bought it (plus it looks good). It started with any applications being slow wether they were Apple or others, I would get the wheel of death and as an example opening a Word document could take up to several minutes. Opening photos was touch and go as to if they would open at all. I followed the process and went direct to Apple support- who spent hours on the phone with me, we did everything you can imagine including reformatting the hard drive- they recommended that I purchase a time capsule (I did) so I could back up my data. Even backing up to it took over a day- and yes I had hardly anything on the machine. Anyway computers aren’t my life and whilst this was an expensive inconvenience I almost gave up trying to get it fixed. Anyway I took my machine back to Western who claimed they could not find a fault after 7 days of testing. I took the IMAC to an Apple repair shop who diagnosed the fault as a faulty hard drive- replaced it and now my machine works like a dream. I am taking Western through the small claims court. I have discovered two friends with the same IMAC and the same issue so will be helping them get the issue sorted. Also it’s worth noting that Western tell you in the shop that they offer a two year warranty that is exactly the same as Apples first year- this is not true they don’t cover hard drives but they won’t tell you this when you go to buy one. The Sales Director that has been in contact with me is very rude and unhelpful, he also didn’t turn up for an agreed time for the small claims mediation service. I have submitted a SAR’s request to Western and they don’t seem to have half the purchases that I have made or do they think that information in regards to my small court claim should/is part of the SAR’s request- will update how I get on.

“appalling service and follow up”

I took my 2009 Apple iMac into the Oxford store and told the staff that the computer would only boot up in safe mode., They suggested that they could delete the hard drive and re load the operating system and implied that this would solve the problem. They said that it would be ready the next day . I waited and when I attended the store and asked about progress I was told that they had problems installing the operating system but after some prompting they said that they would ask the technicians to remove the hard drive and try a reinstallation . I attended the shop a few days later and was told that attempts to reinstall the operating system had not been successful . I was told by the female manager that I could take my computer but it was not working . I complained that I had brought in a serviceable computer -albeit that it would only boot up in safe mode -and I was being offered a computer which was useless. I attempted to ask for alternative solutions but a male employee kept intervening and came around the counter in a threatening manner . I twice asked him to return to the other side of the counter , which he eventually did and then swore at me’. Eventually I was given the email address of the area? manager and left . The area manager phoned me and seemed to accept the shop managers assertion that I had been threatening and that I had demanded a brand new computer which I denied. He asserted that there was nothing they could do to solve the problem and eventually agreed to review any CCTV and to arrange an apology if my version is correct . There are two problems . one that I brought in a working computer , paid the company £69 to perform a service that they implied would solve the problem and was offered my own non working computer back . Secondly the staff were initially unsympathetic and later abusive. The area manager reviewed the CCTV but refused to accept that the staff had been unsympathetic and threatening. He offered no solution to the problem and no refund. There are other Apple specialists around so DO NOT USE WESTERN COMPUTERS

Was sent here by apple support as I was told leicester my nearest apple shop would not be able to sort my problem out. Staff were very helpful and concerned that I had to travel so far for help and happily helped to solve my problem. Could not have asked for better service and my now vintage apple mac is back to normal. Thanks guys

Very poor Customer Service.I left my iPhone to be repaired one week ago in Leamington Spa branch and now they do not answer to my emails.I am afraid I have to say good bye to my phone and the £39 fee I paid for the preliminary inspection.I did not expect from an Apple re-seller to such a poor service. I deeply regret I did not read the reviews before going to them.

“Cancelled appointment without telling me”

I had booked my phone in online for a battery replacement. Western Computers in Oxford was my closest dealer but still a 1 1/2 round trip. I arrived at my appointment time (10.20am) only to be told that the technician had phoned in sick but no one had bothered to phone me. They were only vaguely apologetic and didn’t offer any recompense for my wasted time. I will not be rebooking the appointment.

“Without a phone over 12 days”

I was told in store that they would diagnose it within a couple days and if they can't replace it they'll order a replacement phone from Apple. But I found out they diagnosed it 7 days later and then sent the phone off to Apple to have a look at?! What?! I could have posted it to Apple myself with their mail repair process! And I could have done that a lot earlier and have had my phone much quicker. Will never be using Western Computers again. Such an awful repair process, not to mention I was lied to about the process to begin with.

My advice is to AVOID!!!!!! The worst consumer experience I have ever had. They stated my broken iphone would be returned within 5 days...I am still waiting for a reunion over 14 days later (facing my 3rd weekend without a phone!!). I have since looked at my Apple account and my phone didn't arrive at Apples repair facility until today (two weeks after handing it over???) Western said I could track my order on there website....but you look for the link, because I can't find it. They cannot tell me when it will appear back in the shop and emails to customer services repeatedly get ignored!!!! This store is recommended by Apple as an official repair store, but I wish I had just posted it to Apple myself, I think I would have had my phone back long ago. Worried now that I will never see my phone again. They don't seem to care??????!!!!!!????? I am trying to get in touch with Apple UK and I am trying to flag up what is going wrong with many of the customers experiences who get involved with Western Computers.

“AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!”

Had an issue with my iPhone 6 (battery died one night and just wouldn't turn back on, it was out of warranty at just over a year old). Apple recommended Western to take a look at at to see if they could fix it, I made the trip to Oxford to drop this off to them and had to leave it with them to carry out diagnostics. The cost of a diagnostic check was £35 whether or not they can fix it. Approx 6 days later I received an email to say it couldn't be repaired and needed to be replaced, but that they could offer me a reconditioned phone at a cost of £257.62 I hadn't realised I needed to respond to this email to say I would be collecting my phone and so again made the trip to Oxford to go collect my phone. On arrival, as I hadn't emailed they wouldn't return my phone to me. I offered to email back there and then but apparently that wouldn't suffice! I went home, replied to the email to say I would be collecting my phone and that no I didn't want one of their reconditioned ones or my phone returning to Apple. It was another couple of weeks before I could get to Oxford again to collect the phone, I had other errands to run and so my husband went to collect it for me. As I was walking around I received a phone call from the store to say they didn't have an email from me but that my husband was there to collect my phone and was it ok for them to give to him? - Completely contradicting their earlier rule that it couldn't be handed over without first receiving an email?? We both found the staff in the store rude and unhelpful - especially the old woman with the short grey hair, some lessons in customer service wouldn't go amiss! I wish I knew then what I know now - I wouldn't touch this place with a barge pole! I didn't trust their diagnostics one bit and had this confirmed when I took my phone to another place where they fixed it for £20 - enough said. So glad I trusted my instincts!!

“Catalogue of errors x4 'repairs' courier even smashed...”

I'm of to apple rather than risk my imac with these clowns again. 1 failed to repair optical drive said used various discs. 2, returned and optical drive replaced, when asked what the fault was they told me what I told them first time around. 3. Additional fault software will fix for £65.00 no I reply (software not covered by apple care) I will do it myself. 4. Pick up none functional imac ran disc utility guess what Curirpt hard drive. 5. Why new acre no ask? Oh it was damaged by the courier - damaged - the screen was shattered.

“useless”

My computer has been repaired by this company on a regular basis since it was a year old which basically explains what I am getting at ..they never get it right! It must have had every possible part replaced including a hard drive at least twice! I am now beginning to believe that it is the repair company not my computer that is at fault. They claimed to have waited 6 months for a new hard drive from Toschiba and I have hardly used the computer since it came back but find it has the same symptoms it had before they 'fixed' it. On the paperwork accomp[anying the repair it simply says 'replaced faulty parts' not replaced hard drive. It also came back with ink spludges on the screen when I contacted them they said I needed a new screen. I did not have this problem before it went into them for a new hard drive. My verdict : useless they never seem to get it right and since they are the only people who have EVER touched my macbook I think it must be them at fault! I think they lack integrity.
