The Yamaha FJ700X Maxim X 700 is a wonderful ride, good handling. Unbelievable power and torque. With a ~10K Redline and making 96hp and 85ft/lb somewhere around 7-8K RPM, this bike is one impressive machine for short distance (light-to-light) sprints. Handily outperforms most sport racing style bikes in that distance. Top speed around 140 MPH. I had mine over 135 on several occasions with little effort and no handling problems.
I put over 45,000 miles on it and I would gladly buy another if it were available today, but my little brother won't sell it back to me.

The Yamaha FJ700X Maxim X is a comfortable cruiser with sport bike speed. Why these two ever parted ways is beyond me. This bike was at the pinnacle of the muscle bike era until the V-max took over. I never got a V-max because they were too ugly for me. I bought this one to replace my 1982 650 maxim.
