24% Additional Hidden Fees From Kemwel/buchbinder/megadrive

I rented a car from Kemwel with the rental agency being Buchbinder/Megadrive in Austria.

At the time of rental with Kemwel, I purchased the full insurance with Zero deductible. I also was picking the car up in Vienna and dropping off in Salzburg.

When picking up the car at the airport in Vienna, I was forced to take an additional Buchbinder Super Coverage for items such as glass and tires, which supposedly were not covered under the existing Kemwel damage waiver policy. I had no way of checking I never received anything from Kemwel stating what exactly was covered, only that I had a Zero deductible.

In addition, even though it appeared that I was being charged for a one way fee of 30 Euro by Kemwel, I received a additional charge of 25 Euro from Buchbinder/Megadrive. Kemwel later stated their charge of 30 Euro covered the VAT tax. A very suspect explanation to me. I have to ask, when is the tax on an item more than the cost of the item itself.

To sum up, I was charged an additional 24% over what I originally contracted for. I received no satisfaction from Kemwel when I complained. In fact their written response to me was "Be advised that it is the clients responsibility to inform themselves of what they are agreeing to when signing a legal document".

My interpretation: We got you with the ambiguity and fine print of our contract, Thank you very much!

Hidden Fees Exceed The Listed Price

I have booked a car for my vacation in Spain through kemwel's website - kemwel.com Everything looked fine on the surface but later i realized they had tiny remark way down the contract that mentions mystreious "logistical fee". This logistical fee ended costing 67 euros which is more than the 60 euros the listed as the price.

They sent me to goldcar in spain. You can google for yourself what this company puts customers through.

I suggest you stay as far away as possible from companies that allow this kind of behaviour.
