This company is the worst purchase I ever made in my life .I bought a van last year and paid £600 for a 2 year warranty through this company .I was unable to collect the total claim of £200 due to faults that showed up at the MOT. After a lot of phone calls and back and forth e-mails I'm giving up. But I will do everything in my power to discredit them . People don't ever buy this anything from them!!!!!

“WON THE MOTOR OMBUDSMAN CASE AGAINST THESE! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Carolina163 on 29/03/2024

After two years of fighting this company eventually The Motor Ombudsman service has ruled in my favour. The reasons are: Remedy As I have upheld his complaint, I intend to award Mr Blest with reimbursement of his repair costs in accordance with the terms of the warranty. I would be grateful if one or both parties could advise me of what the repair costs were before I issue my final decision. I may also make an award for recovery costs if I deem it appropriate. Regarding the breaches of the Code for investigation of mis-selling, and the incorrect email address, I determine the most appropriate remedy is a formal apology. My provisional decision I intend to uphold Mr Blest’s complaint for the above reasons. I intend to make an award whereby Autoprotect must: 1) Reimburse Mr Blest for the cost of the turbo repair in accordance with the terms of the warranty; and 2) Formally apologise to Mr Blest for failing to update the email address on their website leading to a delay in actioning Mr Blest’s claim; and 3) Formally apologise to Mr Blest for failing to direct his complaint regarding mis-selling to the appropriate party. Next steps As this is a change in outcome, I am giving both parties 10 working days to provide me with further comments, which they can do by completing the webform – a link is included in my email. Once I’ve received responses, or this time has elapsed, I will look to review the complaint again within 5 working days. However, in the absence of this, it is likely my final decision will be along these lines. I had to scrap my car because of the breaches that this company did. Now I will seek a county court case to recoup the value of the car with the backing paperwork of, The Motor Ombudsman service to do this! I will not let this company get away with it! PLEASE AVOID!

“DISGRACEFUL SERVICE DO NOT RECOMMEND! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LolablueRyan on 20/03/2024

The reason I am giving this company one star is because i had no choice, if there was an option to give them a zero I would. Please do not buy a warranty from this company. Recently I put in a claim about a small scratch on my car, keep in mind I payed €2000 euro (for two year warranty) for full coverage as I am a new driver. I got a basic email the next day saying that the damage was “too much” for them to fix, even though is was a tiny surface level scratch which wouldn’t cost much to fix if I went to a mechanic! I got on to customer services and they were beyond rude! These people don’t want to help and they will do/say anything to keep their money. I am very very disappointed and will never buy from this company again.

“Any excuse not to pay”

written by DeandreSpencer343 on 08/03/2024

We purchased a comprehensive warranty to cover all mechanical failure. After 2 months the diff failed, it was inspected by a specialist who advised a tooth had chipped within the diff which caused the issue. Pictures were provided, after many emails and excuses about what they needed to show the failure they advised that a chipped tooth is not sudden failure hence this is excluded due to their fair wear and tear policy????. Steer clear of this company and anyone who sells you a vehicle backed by them.

“Not recommend ”

written by MynameisR on 20/02/2024

I definitely I don't know how this company gets a good reviews. When I bought the warranty the dealer told me: extended warranty of 1 year for all electrical and major mechanical components at a price of 350 euro. Now, when I tried to use the warranty the customer service replied to me: Your warranty is for a sudden mechanical or electrical failure. Draw your own conclusions.

“Sham compnay”

I was sold Smart Protect when purchasing a car. I received a small dent to my door in a supermarket car park, within the size and dimensions they stipulate are covered. Took picture on the app (which is very basic) to receive an email saying the claim was declined. No information as to why. Please don’t fall victim to this company. Complaint submitted on their website, no response. Called customer service, they couldn’t tell me why it was declined. Told me someone would call the same day, no call received.

“Shambolic customer service ”

written by Redders19 on 12/12/2023

New policy taken out and when reading the finer details I noticed points incorrectly answered. The advisor had ticked the previous faults box for the vehicle. On challenging no response, then advisor identified the mistake but never heard again from them or updated paperwork to remove the mistake they had made. I cancelled within the cooling off period and received a refund. Can imagine the hassle later down the line when a claim is raised to the answer sorry you declared a fault. Please avoid and look elsewhere

“Not worth the paper written on”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Pete558 on 07/11/2023

This so called Warranty insurance' company will find any excuse not to pay out. They will refer back to terms and conditions which are somewhat ambiguous and if you were sold the warranty by a dealer you would not have seen anyway They will not pay a workshop Labour to 'investigate' a fault only Labour and parts to fix it ..once a photograph of the part (extra Labour which they won't pay) or other proof is supplied by the workshop...at your cost!.however investigation is sometimes a large part of ensuring that the right fault is fixed. Next, if the part is deemed non mechanical they won't pay for the part or Labour to fix it. So if it's a leaking radiator (non mechanical) blown hose, or in my case the headlamp washers they won't pay out.

“Dreadful Company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JonasYoung on 09/02/2023

Dreadful company. Sold us a policy for tyre cover with a limit that is only 2/3 of the actual cost of a run of the mill replacement. Not told that at the time. Rang to question this and then one agent agreed to the full refund. Weeks later we get the refund which was not the full amount. Am now told that agent never agreed to that. To add insult to injury the last agent I spoke to over talked me constantly, raised his voice then mansplained for minutes. Nasty and rude. AVOID What a joke. Am taking them to the FCA to sort it and hopefully that costs more than the difference.

written by ampm012 on 06/01/2023

Bought my Range Rover £15500 cash 2years ago, took out a 2 year warranty,Inlet manifold cracked November 21 which was covered under the warranty, when I finally got through they said it wasn't covered so I paid £1786 out my own pocket. Only this week on 4th Jan 23 they actually rang me to offer me a renewal at the same price I paid in 2020 for £800, I was very hesitant and very curious as to whether the Inlet manifold was covered, and you guessed it they said yes it was. As you can imagine I was furious and asked why I was told in Nov 22 that it wasn't! The guy on phone hadn't a clue of what to say to me, anyway I told him to do one in a nice way and I never renewed.. please please don't use this company as its just a big trick, take your hard earned cash and misguide you along the way thinking your car is under warranty. I have reported Autoprotect but I'm not convinced anything will come of it. Please take heed of this review. Thanks for reading.

“AVOID - Absolutely shocking service and waste of...”

Absolutely ridiculous time wasting company. Used a Well known specialist garage for warranty repair and they have been having issues dealing with this so called warranty company. Car has been over 3 weeks just trying to get hold of someone to approve what is needed by Auto protect. Phone not answered, emails when they do reply, requests for items already sent — video, pictures, quotes. Now they asking why the garage is quoting for labour even when they have sent a comparative quote if we had used a main dealer garage!!! They seem to be looking for a way to avoid paying for what they have clearly stated was initially covered so buying time in the hope that you get frustrated and walk away ..... Stay away from them for your mental health and sanity. Will never use again. Clearly missold a product and will be contacting relevant trade ombudsman

“Appalling waste of money.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Adrian9876 on 02/09/2022

This warranty came with a second hand car I bought in January 2022 and I paid extra to extend to 12 months. I realised that the wheel bearing had gone and spent an excessive amount of time attempting to get in touch with someone at this Company. I was told to take the vehicle to get it assessed and also told that £40.00 an hour was the rate offered for the repair. Most garages are a minimum of £59.00. One of the repair centres was unable to get through to authorise the claim, the other two would not deal with them. Eventually I made another call and was told to try Halfords. They picked up on both wheel bearings, but apparently this is wear and tear and therefore not covered. I wasted days off, countless minutes on the phone, not to mention fuel on a policy that is not worth the paper it is written on. A lack of clarity in the covered/exclusion section and had I spoken to someone who knew anything about the warranty or in fact cars, I would have carried out the work myself. The customer service staff, bar one, were not only passive aggressive, but also clueless most of the time. The car dealer who sold me the car was good, but this warranty company lets them down and I have called to tell them that (their review will reflect this).

“AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/07/2022

Well... where do i start.. how this Company trades and can get away with tricking people me off is beyond me.. they have from day one tried every trick in their book to get out paying for the engine failure which is clearly supposed to be covered in the policy taking out with these charlatans. I have a 370z nismo which suffered a catastrophic engine failure and was quoted around 4500 to put right.. this happened over 3 months ago. After contacting them and providing them with the service history stating that it was serviced within the manufactures guide lines they some how lost the evidence of my service history and rejected the claim.I then rang them and watsapped them a picture of the service history which then then mysteriously lost once more. I then resent them the docs in another email. They then required a video of the damaged engine stripped showing the damage of the crank and so on. The garage have sent this video to them on 2 occasions... Once while the Lady was on the phone to the garage just to make sure they 100 percent received them as once again they somehow lost the 1st video... They are now saying they have never received any video which is utter rubbish.. The garage have now lost patience with this awful company and have said they cant waste anymore time with their games as they are clearly doing every thing not to assist.. ive also came to the conclusion by reading all the other reviews that they clearly dont pay out on larger claims. They should not offer this kind of cover if they are not prepared to pay out. One Further note to add when i contacted the Garage to send them my car via recovery and stated that it was under warranty with auto protect the guy actually laughed and said "good luck with that"... so please avoid this company as if you have a high claim their contracts are not worth the paper its written on..

“difficult to deal with”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 186Long on 13/05/2022

The roof on my BMWz4 stopped functioning so rang the claims number and eventually got through after listen to different menues and options and was told the claim would be covered and i got it booked in with my local BMW dealer who identified an issue with a Hall sensor and Auto protect agreed to pay for this. This did not fix the problem and and a new part was thought to be the problem at a cost of £500 but Auto Protect would not authorise the payment of this and asked the garage to contact me for approval and they would review it if it fixed the problem. The garage is having problems with them now as it has fixed the problem and i have rung and been placed on hold for 20 mins with nobody answering. Iam not surprised that they are getting such bad reviews

“WARNING  Claim limit is £200 and the tyres I’m...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Haileeg9 on 09/03/2022

WARNING  Claim limit is £200 and the tyres I’m having fitted by Kwikfit are £145. Autoprotect doesn’t want to approve the replacement because the tyres kwikfit wants to fit to my car show as tyres above £200 on “Autoprotects price file”. When infact they are £145! I paid from my own pocket. Also the shortest I waited on the phone was 48minutes. You got me good Autoprotect, you got me good. But I want to thank you for this valuable lesson. As I am still young, and will be purchasing more vehicles in the coming years. And when offered tyre, alloy or paint insurance… I will giggle and tell the salesman “nice joke” :D I will make sure this reputation spreads like wildfire among my peers and family.

“Poor quality and service ”

written by SeamusReece on 04/01/2022

The worst ever warranty company I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Basically poor in every department from picking up the phone to paying a claim that qualifies and they only cover the minimum amount, started a claim on the 26 of November and they made us and the customer run round in circles for months and they still haven’t paid the claim, just send you lots of emails saying it’s been dealt with, even though it hasn’t. A complete waste of time and money. Avoid this company if your a dealer or a customer they just cause more customer service problems and complaints.

“POOR PRODUCTS AND SERVICE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ClarenceMcFadden on 05/10/2021

POOR PRODUCTS AND SERVICE Gap claim denied as the replacement vehicle was obtained under a PCP agreement and not a lease. Car was stolen and due to shortages it was impossible to get another lease vehicle for at least 6-12 months so had no choice to get nearly new one which was only available under a PCP agreement. They expected me to wait for that long if I wanted a pay out under the policy. Clear example of using an unfortunate situation to their advantage in order to not pay out. They also charged in full for alloy and key insurance and would not let me transfer to the new car. £700 wasted on unless policies. They also make claims and complaints procedure very difficult and insist on everything in writing or through the app.

“Save Your Money Go Elsewhere ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 64Huber on 07/09/2021

I purchased Autoprotect's product 'Mechanical Breakdown Insurance' Their sales people are good at taking your money and inform you that you can take your car almost anywhere for repairs. e.g. you can use the car manufacturers service centre, a third party repairer such as Halfords/Kwik Fit or even your local small garage repairer. When you attempt to make a claim you discover that many repairers won't go through Autoprotect's claims processes. Why should they? They are running their business and don't have to jump through hoops for Autoprotect's benefit. Autoprotect do not provide a list of garages that they have approved and are willing to work with Autoprotect's processes. When you try to make a claim you have to be prepared to stay on the phone forever. When you finally get through you are informed that no work must be done on your car until it is approved. So you want your car repaired by your chosen dealer? Probably not possible because they don't want to deal with Autoprotect. Autoprotect then inform you that if you use your preferred dealer to get the repair done ASAP your claim will be void. So if you adhere to their claim processes they don't want you to get your car back on the road ASAP. Instead their focus is to get the repair done as cheaply as possible and if that means you have to wait days (or even weeks) then so be it. When I started the claims process for my car I used a national car service centre, they completed the first diagnostic and recommended that a specialist diagnostic centre should be used. This company was not the car manufacturer, but their service rates are far lower. By using both companies I could have the car back on the road within a week. Happiness? No. Autoprotect stated 'cease all work until the claim is approved. If you carry on your claim will be declined.' Autoprotect did not take into consideration what needed to be done to get the repairs completed ASAP. The companies I had chosen were the most cost effective, but both will not work with Autoprotect due to the problems they had experienced in the past. So Autoprotect sell you a repair product and regardless of who you want to use, to get the repair done quickly and at a cost much lower then the manufacturer, you discover that to make a claim will take much longer, telephone communication with Autoprotect takes hours and hours and if you don't adhere to Autoprotect's processes (to the letter) your claim will be void. Now, when the Autoprotect's sales person sold you their repair product did he/she give you all of this information? No When you read the small print in the product they sold you did they tell you that the main focus is to reduce the claim as much as possible? No When you read the small print in the product they sold you, did they tell you that you have to be prepared to wait for days (or even weeks) to get the repair done? No So, to conclude Autoprotect has a business model that brings in a relatively large amount cash quickly and everything appears to be acceptable to you and if you need to make a claim there shouldn't be a problem. Then one unfortunate day your car breaks down, you need a repair ASAP, and then and only then, you discover you have wasted your money Never, ever use Autoprotect. If you want a roadside recovery service use a national company such as the AA or RAC Don't waste your money on a mechanical/electrical repair needed by using Autoprotect - You will wait for ever. And they will find any reason not to support your claim.
