Awful sorry. Quoted low price, then received a letter very conveniently over a bank holiday so I couldn't get through to them saying they were increasing my premium plus fees, plus more deposit. “Geoffrey insurance: Good until you claim”

I've been a customer for 5 years. Always paid on time, no issues. Until someone jumped the red light and hit my car which was a write off. It's been a month and Geoffrey have offered a settlement which is lower than it should be, I had to do the research job for them and now they're making me wait for a response as a payment. “Customer service is very poor. Really regret moving to...”

After taking out policy, Chaucer Direct ask you to upload various documents to their website. They don't look at them but sending threatening letters to you, saying they haven't received the documents so are going to double the premium and add £20 admin charge. They also ignore emails, so make sure you telephone them to explain. I've only been with Chancer Direct for a couple of weeks and have already decided to move next year - regardless of the cost. “Very expensive renewal price! ”

I have been happy with my service until the renewal when hundreds of pounds has been added on to my new policy for no reason (other than they felt my postcode was now deemed a greater risk area). Used Chaucer Direct for around five years as they were the best price. No problems with them. Really good having a UK call centre with a proper phone number that connects directly and very quickly to another person that can be understood. Any questions were answered properly and quickly by very friendly staff. No silly admin fees when I changed car, and they also waived a fee when I had to make another change, very happy with this! After 5 or so days I received a letter requesting proof of NCB, Driver's licence details and full log book of the vehicle. “Absolutely shocking!!!!”

Had a car crash wasn't my fault my car got wrote off were giving me £1000 for my car but then deducted £350 excess then took £540 to pay for the rest of the years insurance, I was left with £190 to buy a car with :0 then they made me take liability for a crash that wasn't my fault!!! Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that you feel this way with the final outcome of your claim.

I can confirm that when you pay your premium by instalments and you make a claim, in the event that your vehicle is deemed uneconomical to repair and classified as a total loss, you will need to pay the balance of your premium before we settle your claim. Any outstanding premium you owe, along with the excess payable, may be taken from the amount of the claim. I hope this clarifies the situation.

On your final point about the staff you dealt with being rude, I would be grateful if you could contact us to discuss this so that I can understand the situation further as we take customer service seriously .

I took a policy out with Chaucer direct after being with my old insurer for 8 years. Unfortunately my car was damaged by vandalism while I was insured by Chaucer. I recently took out insurance with Chaucer. I explained when I took out the policy that we had had bought a new property but were staying with my daughter at the moment as I had to work my notice. We had a quote for a policy holder and one named driver which was reasonable and we accepted the quote. When we received the documents, we noticed that the named driver was down as the policy holder and the named driver, when we questioned this they stated we had entered the information incorrectly. When we produced the quote with the correct information, they refused to acknowledge the quote and insisted on new quote and policy. When we got the new quote it was £300.00 more.
