Woefully incompetent, takes the cheapest way out

When I was involved in a road traffic collision in which a vehicle pulled out into me, I thought everything would be sorted out, and Ageas would take my corner.

Whilst my collision involved me overtaking, I did so in a safe manner in which I see others doing on a daily basis on this stretch of road.

A vehicle pulled out of a side road without looking, colliding into the side of my car. Minimal damage fortunately, all drivers were able to drive off after exchanging details.

The claim was a little complex, overtaking next to a junction isn't a good idea (not illegal though), even though I couldn't see the junction, the road afforded a 1 mile straight ahead visibility, I proceeded past slower traffic that was doing 45mph in a 60mph.

Whilst I contend that maybe I was a little bit at fault, the driver emerged and proceeded to pull out onto a main road without stopping and checking if the road was clear, through a giveway junction contrary to s.36 of the RTA 1988, in which the junction afforded them a 900 meter visibility of my direction.

Today, I receive an update that Ageas won't be fighting it, due to that fact I was on the wrong side of the road, and that they will be offering 80/20 liability against myself and will accept 100% liability, even in receipt of a huge bundle of evidence and video footage not to mention case law that supported my position.

It's clear that Ageas are more interested in paying up third party claims when these claims are for less then £5,000, as it's probably cheaper than to dispute and pursue the matter.

They simply don't listen and don't care, which is indicative of the insurance industry unfortunately.

Ironically, my renewal elsewhere is cheaper with a blame accident as opposed to a non fault accident, yet more proof the insurance industry is broken.

Don't go near any companies that use Ageas as their underwriters, never had an issue in the past with any others and has taught me a lesson of cheaper is not better.
