101Walsh's review of Thrifty Car Rental

“Misleading and troublesome”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 101Walsh on 15/10/2014

My friends who are visiting from overseas are renting a car, I dropped them off at the car rental site, just like I did the week before with another better car rental place. Shortly after that I received a phone call from my friends asking me to come back. Thrifty needed someone with an Australian drivers license to be placed on file as security. I had to go back to the rental centre to present my drivers license and was almost late for work as a result of this. It was annoying that there was no mention of this over the phone when my friends made their booking the day before. If we knew that this was required we could have planned for it or go to another car rental place. My friends were lucky I could turn back, there was another man at the rental place who was also having issues with documentation and the person who dropped him off has left.

Thrifty is too strict and they do not inform you beforehand. You are left at their centre at the last minute stranded because they did not let you know what they require from you. Avoid Thrifty.
