Hiring a car is one of the least enjoyable parts of planning an overseas holiday, what with all the hidden extras, extortionate excesses and more exclusions than a naughty schoolboy. Having used Nova for my recent trip to Lyon, I won't have to worry next time. The Nova rate was only just over half of what I would have paid if I had gone direct to the supplier and the service was efficient, friendly and unfussy. The excess was high, but I took out separate excess insurance from another supplier for only £2.99 a day (Nova offered the same for £7.50 a day).

The car provided was almost brand new, and was actually a higher spec than we had paid for. The full-tank fuel policy was another plus - empty-tank policies are a pet hate of mine.

All in all, a very good experience. If the excess insurance had been cheaper, I would have done the whole thing with Nova.
