“Slightly confused but got there in the end”

Okay, booked using money saving expert website. Booking of car and insurance was easy enough but was comparing quotes on several web pages so was startled to get two acknowledgments, one from hirecars.co.uk and one from rentalcars.com. Although they were for the same amount it was not immediately apparent that they were two of the same thing. I therefore cancelled one assuming I had double booked. Waited until I arrived in Tenerife, it was clear there was no booking so I rung up hire cars and got virtually the same quote with the very pleasant lady offline. My recommendation is not to send multiple booking confirmations with different/similar names ( note the excess protection was on a separate email which was fine. Car was good albeit next time I will spend a bit more as the 1.3 fiesta struggled doing 80-90kmh going up the mountains of the island!

“Horrible, Fraud Company!”

This is my review for Hirecars.co.uk I booked a car rental through your website, for 2nd October, morning 8 am pickup. Despite my repeated requests, through their website, writing email and posting on their facebook page, the company did not provide me with the proper address of pick up location. It was a horrible experience. The email which I received from Hirecars.co.uk says the address as "Downtown Coventry" This is insufficient information. It can not be found. Downtown Coventry is Huge. I wasted my time in searching for them. As a result, I have missed the opportunity for which I needed the car. I was also unable to rent another car at the last minute. Hence, I need a full refund and a compensation of at least £500. for embarrassment I have faced and for wasting my time, effort and opportunity because Hirecars did not provide me the car despite taking all the money upfront. So, dear Hirecars, I will now approach Trading Standards and other pursue a legal action against you.

“easy car collection”

staff were very polite and dealt with car hire quickly . on the down side I have received an invoice for one extra days hire which I definitely took the car back in plenty of time , if this is resolved quickly then I will use this car hire firm again as I have done in the past.

The booking process was very easy. the person I dealt with at Aberdeen Airport was very efficient, quick, pleasant and a great laugh. A great start to our trip. When we returned the car we were welcomed with a smile, a quick car return inspection and wished a good flight home. A great customer experience from friendly helpful staff at every stage. I'll be back and look forward to using you again. The only slight downside was the long walk with bags and golf clubs from the terminal to the Car Hire site in the pouring rain!! However, the person I dealt with at Avis was a ray of sunshine when we picked up the car and cheered us up!

“Great Car Hire”

We hired a Dodge Grand Caravan for our family of 4 adults and x1 child for 18 days at Boston Logan International Airport from Budget via Hirecars.co.uk. These vehicles were in short supply, or not available, elsewhere and at prices that were 2-3 times more expensive, including hiring from Budget direct. The clincher for me was the inclusion of SLI insurance. Though Hirecars' site mentioned this, it didn't provide specfic details of the cover. I emailed their customer service and received the information I needed within a few hours - saving me £40-50. All in all a great deal for a vehicle that exceeded our expectations!

Car hire was cheap for a people carrier. Yes I still had to pay for a full tank of diesel, even though the short trip only used less than a quarter of the 155 euros it cost. However other people carriers were still costing around the 280 to 350 gbp mark. The car provided on arrival was rubbish, but I stopped at the airport gate and went back to demand a decent car, which I was given. The Peugeot partner is a fab car, it was almost new and in a really good state, unlike the previous car given, which had a mouldy musty smell on opening doors, gear box was like that of an old, old bus.... About a foot of play in between gears.... However they soon put that right. The funny thing is the replacement car given was thought to be a 5 seater, but really was a 7 seater with two folding seats in the boot...can't believe they don't know their own cars.... Anyway all ended well and I'd use Goldcar again.

“Took hours to sort out at desk”

only 2 persons working and many people waiting so I was not impressed after a long journey to have to stand in a queue. The Insurance I felt was horrendously expensive and made the whole process so expensive. This should have been explained prior to booking. My car type was not available so had to have larger one, more insurance, more fuel. I did enjoy the car which was nice to drive though larger than my usual. Good point was the easy pickup and delivery point.

“A labyrinth”

Booked using a comparison site that alleged to take me to hirecars.co.uk. Bought the well-priced excess and got a great deal on the car. No sooner had the confirmation arrived in my inbox than I see two things; the first, that the rental (actually an avis car) is via yet another provider, a comparison site (providers involved in this deal: 4 and counting). The 2nd is that this other provider carrentals.com has lumped further Excess cover automatically and charged me... how is that even legal since I never visited their site and clearly had opted IN for the other coverage (also charged)!? I managed to cancel, but no apology and in fact got more or less told by carrentals.com that I was ignorant and had missed the tickbox (not the case of course). Ok, good start... 4 companies, an illegal additional charge and rude customer service in the first minutes of my experience. Arriving in France, I asked after the BMW suggested in the ad... surprise surprise, none available... "we say, 'or similar" I am informed. However, with further questions it turns out they have not had BMWs in that category for 5 months or more and carrentals.com has failed to address this. Avis themselves came to the rescue and under pressure, upgraded us. Later, having had a "scrape", a call to the insuror Questor was (so far) encouraging, but due to the labrynthine booking, the wrong phone details were provided leading to much frustration, and time and roaming minutes wasted. So, for me this experience was a very uncomfortable one where I had 4 companies to deal with, not transparently, was overcharged and was lured into hiring a quality vehicle that simply did not exist, and suffered confusing assistance in an accident situation You decide. In hirecars.co.uk's favour, perhaps these failures can all be traced to rentalcars.com. The rental seemed cheap for a BMW but couldn't deliver, so how can one comment on value.

“Simple and Hassle-free Car Rentals”

I rented a car through this site for a trip to Lake Como. I received many rental options in the higher cost categories that were much cheaper than on other websites. When I picked up my Ford Focus Cmax I was greatly impressed with the bootspace; the car coped well with the 4 large suitcase and additional hand luggage just as the website said it would. Using this site took all the hassle out of renting a suitable car for a holiday in a foreign country. I will certainly be recommending them to my friends and family. Kindest regards Jamie

“Hire Car From Hertz”

It was a bit anxiety making at Heathrow, having to go to the shuttle bus to the collection point instead of signing up in the terminal but it worked well with a happy bus driver. Had a bit of a wait signing up but all was good. Delivering it at Stansted Airport was a breeze. :)

Confirmation of rental from NZ was ambigiuous and unclear. Table of insurances and extra charges also not obvious to comprehend. Staff at pick up and drop off were brilliant. And Heathrow drop off could not be less hassle free. (Apart from getting there!) Very happy with the vehicle and economy. A little concern that you are not very flexible with rates. We arrived at Dover early (2 hours) due to travellers suffering tummy upsets. However, the rules stated that we would have to pay a whole new days hire at the premium rate. This was sorted by the professionaliism of a staff member but if it hadn't been it would have lost you at least 6 future customers.

What can I say about this booking other than the car exceeded my expectations for ease of driving, comfort, fuel consumption and size. I would not hesitate to book this car again, or to refer Enterprise through Hirecars.co.uk to anyone booking a car hire. I have used other companies over the past 18 years, but will come back to this one every time. Well Done Hirecars.co.uk and Enterprise. I can't think of a bad thing to say about my experience, except perhaps in your car description it could be indicated that the car is a petrol or diesel engine, however a quick phone call confirmed my preference, with a very satisfying result.
