Do not use this company! It is a total joke! We reserved a rental vehicle in Orlando through discovercarhire.com and it ended up actually being reserved with AddCar, so nobody is really held accountable for this, apparently. The rental of the vehicle was quoted at $50.96 for the “Total Cost of Rental” and I paid $11.96 for a deposit. When we arrived at the airport, we called the number for the shuttle and waited a little over 30 minutes to be picked up. Once we arrived at the rental trailer, it took the girl behind the counter another 30 minutes to process my information, then she handed me a rental contract that reflected an amount of $157 for the car! I was shocked, but calmly showed her my contract that clearly reflected the “Amount Payable on Arrival” of $39 and explained that they needed to provide the vehicle at the amount that was quoted. She said that the quote did not include a number of fees that were now added to the rental, etc, which is ridiculous. I asked to speak with a manager and she said no one was available, but when we pressed for someone to speak with, she gave us the number of someone in Miami who was very rude. This “manager” sarcastically asked if we really expected to get a rental car for $51 and when we replied that we did because we have a contract with that amount, which they should honor, she hung up the phone mid-sentence. Other rentals from more reputable companies were charging approximately $70-$90 for the same rental period at the time that I made the reservation, so it was not unreasonable to believe that a smaller, lesser known company would rent at the quoted price. After attempting to reason with AddCar, we decided to go back to the airport to rent from a more reputable company in the terminal at a last minute rate, which was still much lower than what AddCar was trying to charge us and I have yet to attempt to obtain a refund for my deposit with discovercarhire.com. I travel quite a bit and have rented vehicles all over the U.S. and in many other countries and have never had a problem. I will obviously never consider using discovercarhire.com or AddCar again, as this was hands down the worst car rental experience that I have had and it ended up being a huge waste of time while causing a lot of stress that could have been avoided. Lessons learned - It’s best to stick with companies that stand behind their name and reputation.
