Avis car hire proportion to be the customer friendly face of car hire across the world.
I have just rented an expensive car from them for a week in Portugal. The hire prices claim to be inclusive of all taxes, but you will be hit with a bill for £100 on top of the advertised cost for airport charges, toll fee registration charges, and 'circulation' charges.
The total maximum cost of your hire will be held against your debit card, and it will no be returned for at least 2 weeks after you complete your hire - and that is in addition to the bill.
So for a £500 luxury car rental hire, you will be out of pocket by £1000 for 2 weeks.
None of this appears in their advertising, nor is it explained when you hand over your debit card at the outset of the rental period.

Wow thats just happen to me this week !!!! . service was great when collecting the car and selling all the extras but dealing with the refund in the branch was dreadful. Customer service was much better and confirmed that they would do a manual refund and it would take 48 hrs. Shame the guy in the branch couldn't do that! I agree with your comments. feel this is a company policy
