I thought I had booked car hire with Autoriesen, who I have used before. Only when I got to the airport did I discover that TopCar Autoriesen is a different outfit, but uses the same corporate colours. I was expecting problems, but everything went fairly smoothly. Completed the booking at the desk with no issues - member of staff very helpful. I have separate insurance, so did not opt for the CDW cover. No pressure put on me to buy it, but 300 Euro deposit required. This was not blocked on my credit card, but deducted as a purchase. On my return, the deposit was refunded to the card (within 24 hours). Unfortunately, this meant I lost money twice due to the exchange rates. Petrol was full to full, which is good. The car was a Dacia Sandero Stepway, in good condition. I hated it, but that is just personal preference. It did the job and got us round the island a few times. Returning the car was easy. The car was checked over quickly and it was confirmed that the deposit would be refunded. Total rental, including the exchange rate losses, was £160 for two weeks, which isn't too bad. Would be happy to use TopCar again, if the occasion arises.
