When I read the awful reviews, I looked hard to find a similar car elsewhere. It was only because there wasn’t one in the specification that Strood Motor Company had that I followed up the advertisement. I was full of trepidation. I needn’t have been and I’m glad I did so. The car was honestly described, I was sent additional photos within minutes, it was ready on time and Russell collected me from the station in it.

Before I bought the car, he told me there was an additional charge of £150. It was optional in the sense that I had the option to take it or leave it. It was not stated in the advertisement, nor is it stated on the web site that there is an additional charge. I told Russell that I thought it should be. It is his choice not to do so, but I imagine he would receive fewer negative reviews were he to adopt a policy of total transparency. Added to the price of the high-end car I bought, it was not much. The car was competitively priced and remained reasonable with the add-on. It also had several months of the manufacturer’s warranty to run. In the case of an unwarranted cheaper car, however, it would make quite a difference to the stated price and a disappointed prospective purchaser might well be prompted to comment adversely here.

My experience has been positive and Russell is clearly conscientious. As he explained to me, it’s the price that gets the attention on the internet. He’s right. I suggested a link so that a purchaser could look more deeply into the add-ons and the rationale for them.

They sell a lot of cars. Their prices are good. It’s just that they are not quite as good as they first appear. They have a lot of people to deal with and, while maybe that’s why they may appear brusque. I have to say I found Russell patient, efficient and, with the exception of the caveat above, professional.
