Booked my CBT with West Penine in Blackburn as it is local to me and I had been recommended to try them from a family member.
After a brief introduction to the owner and the instructor who would ultimately look after me for the day we got straight to it with the checking of the paperwork.
Now being 48 years old and not having been on a bike in years you can imagine I was a little nervous to start with. However the excellent instruction and pace of learning soon took care of that.
I was one of only two trainees on the CBT course (the other being a young lad on a 50cc scooter), and was given a 125cc bike for the day to use.
I had no problems with the bike, and after becoming accustomed to it, following the talk through in the classroom, we got on with the practical learning on site.
The instructor was very patient with the pair of us trainees and fully explained what was required and how best to achieve this. In short he gave us the confidence to go from absolute beginner to confidently riding around the site practicing our turns, stops and uturns etc.

Then the time came for the road ride (minimum 2hrs)and even after the confidence was built up on site, there was still the anticipation of doing it all out there in public. Luckily as mentioned I am a local lad so did not have the added worry of not knowing where we were going.

So for the first hour the young lad led the three of us (this was so Terry could keep his eye on the lad because he was not a road user whereas I have been driving a car for 20 odd years).
A couple of misunderstandings resulted in the lad taking a wrong turning or two at some roundabouts, and even then The instructor kept a level head and neither panicked nor changed his calm communication style.
Then it was my chance to shine...so after a few uturns successfully under our belts it was my turn to lead the three of us.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, and remember those encouraging words in my ear "Good Observations there", of course hearing this made me do probably more observations than were strictly necessary, heck I was even doing them in the car on the way home from the training site.

I would certainly recommend that anyone wishing to learn how to ride a motorcycle should try out West Penine.
