We were persistently called by Laneset until we finally decided actually we would let them lodge an appeal for us. They made a promise to us saying that we did not part with any of our cash until we had a decision. After they came out and did a convincing survey with a multitude of questionnaires requests for bits of info they left us alone for about two weeks. We then got a demand for payment. We queried and we were told that the VOA had already agreed to let us have a reduction of around 20-30%, but if we pay our fee we can pursue the case and we are probably in line for a 50% reduction.
They hounded us for about 10 days demanding payment by x date, we gave in much to our better judgement and paid them almost £500.
We heard nothing. We checked on the VOA website, no listing. We tried ringing, leaving messages etc.
We were then visited but a further very convincing surveyor...promised that we had been successful and we were in line to get a reduction of anything between 20-50% of our NNDR bill.
We finally appeared on the VOA site after about 4 months!!
We looked forward to the appeal date, and when it came and went we still heard nothing. Tried again to get Laneset- on the one occasion it wasn't engaged they fobbed us of saying our rep was busy and would call back. He didn't.
Then 2 days after appeal date it said our application had been withdrawn. So we contacted VOA direct.
They have since told us that Laneset have gone into administration. They make false promises, and we stood no chance at all of getting a reduction. Laneset have a reputation of duping people out of their hard earned money. Tell others to stay away.
We are now not able to put in a fresh appeal, as you only get one chance unless something drastically changes in or around your building.
Be warned we were conned and looking at the previous reviews we are the only ones.

Absolutely agree, Laneset call with a promise of a free evaluation with a slick sales process only to end up being a complete scam in my opinion.
Don't waste your money!

I agree. They will give you promises, but they cannot deliver.
Try calling them, they don't even pick up the phones.
Stay away from this company

Can you give us any names in regards to whom it was that carried out the 'survey'? I am wondering whether these charlatans are part of another Nottingham-based business rates scam conglomerate of companies called Britannia Law, Owenson Law, Proctor Law, Harvey Barker LTD, Maclaren & Fitch. Any information would be greatfully received.
