I dealt with Imperial 5 years ago for a claim they knocked back. I telephoned my past insurer and they said Imperial have ceased trading. Lets party.

After a windy night my neighbour informed me my chimney pot was leaning and that I should ring my Insurer. I did so straight away hoping to get professional advice on how to deal with this serious turn of events. What followed however, can only be described as absolute chaos. My Insurer apointed this northern loss adjusters who from the start made things as difficult as possible. Everytime I spoke to them I had to answer a series of riddles to prove I was not a soviet spy or imposter. Then there was the issue of the inspection. They refused to give me a time so I had to wait around all day to be graced with the surveyors prescence. When the surveyor did turn up he just stood at the bottom of the garden with a pair of binoculars like a peeping tom. When he eventually came to the door he spat 'you cant claim for that, its bloody knackered'. He claimed that it was not the gale force winds I have suffered but the old enemy 'time' that had caused my pot to lean. Of course I protested but he just said I can read his report so I can understand. When I asked were it was? He laughed 'I have not written it yet.' He walked away only stopping to take a photo of my chimney. I never heared from him or Imperial again. I have cancelled my Insurance and will not be taken part in this racket again.

Their surveyor came to inspect storm damage to my roof, he took pictures from a distance! he had a ladder but did not use it, how can anyone say whether or not a claim is due to storm damage when they havn't even been on the roof. My claim was rejected as not due to to storm damage. I have had roofers look at the roof since, I now have pictures of the damage but have to foot the bill for the repair myself which is totally unfair, prior to this I had not claimed on my insurance for years. I have paid out for repairs to the roof our of my own pocket on more than one occasion and have receipts to prove it but this was not taken into consideration. The shape of my roof is shaped so that the section that is damaged cannot be viewed from below unless someone actually goes upon the roof and carries out a close up inspection. Buildings insurance is a complete rip off as the outcome of my claim and claims made by others has already been decided before they even pull up at your front foor, enough said. The surveyors and insurance companies obviously work hand in glove to make sure that the claimants do not have a leg to stand on. I would not recommend this company to anyone, a decision had already been made regarding my claim as the surveyor stood talking to me.

Imperial were appointed to deal with storm damage to my roof. I sent in photos and quotes as requested only to have a bumbling idiot ring me up and tell me its wear and tear. I doubt this guy has ever been up a ladder and just repeated himself over and over like he was reading from a script. I complained to my insurer who eventually agreed to pay out in full when I threatened to go to the ombudsman. If you have a valid claim try and deal direct with your insurance company and not with this company. If you have to deal with them make sure you get someone out to visit your house otherwise you might end up taking to a numpty with two pencils up his nose. You can't reason with stupidity.

Surveyor made up a false report, twisted my words completely. Told insurance I knew about problems with my roof and that the damage inside the property was long term. Both of these statements are completely untrue. Don't engage in any conversation with them.

I suffered a leak from the flat above. My insurance company instructed Imperial to deal. I had to get the work done quickly as I have a young child and my flat was a mess. When Imperial rang me I explained the work had been done. I was told to send in the invoice and photos and they will review. So I emailed them in. About three hours later a nice man called and told me he had looked at the invoice and photos I had sent and that the costs were ok. He explained that he will request the payment from my insurance company and to call him anytime if needed. I was very impressed with the speed and the service from Imperial. I thought I would have to wait a long time to get my money but they made it quick and painless.

my flat was flooded by neighbour upstair. Imperial were appointed to assess the damages. First, they are not in any hurry to visit your place, you will have to wait for appointment 2 weeks. Second, they are not very friendly and will try to minimise the amount required to fix the damages to the minimum. Avoid them, ask to appoint someone else.

Came to my house due to storm damage to my roof in the north of scotland (which had suffered unusual high winds recorded at 120 mph), roof is relatively new and has been passed by chartered surveyor, he walked across garden with ladder in hand and then walked back (didn't go on roof), after five minute inspection he informed us that he didn't think insurance would pay, after heated discussion he told me to take legal advice, my husband told him he was working for AXA and only came with the sole intention of getting off with paying, absolutely gobsmacked, do not let your insurance company send these people to your house, I am now going to take legal advice and will consult the ombudsman.

We were effected by the same official record breaking storms on the Western Isles & have also had a very disappointing encounter with the Imperial Consultants 'surveyor'. Despite asking several times how a householder can know of potential problems that are not visible to them, no real answer was forthcoming other than I should pay for someone to go up on to my roof every year. He was 'unprofessional' in other respects too and displayed poor customer service skills in many respects.

Stand your ground and call your insurance company, tell them you are not happy with the person as I have done, they have now decided to ignore his report in my case and have asked me to submit costings for my roof, they apologised and admitted the storm caused the damage, if you have no joy with them then tell them you want to make an official complaint, they are obliged to reply within eight weeks, if they do not comply then you can go to the ombudsman which is free of charge, good luck, hope you get your damage sorted out. Regards

Complain to trading standards about Imperial. THEY ARE ALLEGEDLY DISHONEST.
You can ask Citizens Advice to send a complaint to Trading Standards on you behalf.
Hope you manage to get the settlement you need.

Imperial consultants were used by AXA to review damage to my property. Right from the start I encountered problems, stay away from this company as it full of incompetent, rude, useless people who are clearly targeted not to pay out claims. Took them 3 months to assess my house then said it was normal wear and tear because I had to get it fixed as couldn't wait any longer. Even the directors who clearly just play golf are no better. Typical insurance company who happily take your money but never pay out when they should.

I would contact Citizens Advice as they helped me with issues regarding Imperial Consultants. Ask them to send the case to trading standards!
Did the surveyor ask you to sign what they may call an agreement?
I REFUSED TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THEM BUT THEY STILL INSIST WHAT I WAS ASKED TO SIGN WAS NOT A CONTRACT.

Tell your insurance company you want to make a formal complaint, they cannot ignore you by law, they have eight weeks to respond, get an independant survey done on the damage to your property (tell your insurance you are taking legal advice) and mention the ombudsman, they are likely to back down and pay up, these people they send are not professional they are there with the simple aim of saving the other parties money.

I didn't sign anything. They just emailed report. It also took them 4 months to complete it then said wear and tear instead of storm damage. I will contact citizens advice. Thanks for your help

Imperial are an allegedly bad company as their surveyors allegedly do not follow correct procedures and do what they can to get you to sign allegedly unexplained documents. Do not let them into your home! When you complain they allegedly are not interested and their surveyors are not allegedly accountable to regulatory bodies. Imperial should be made accountable for their actions.
