“Useless”

written by charlieandlyn on 20/06/2016

Nothing but problems, told me one price on phone charged more on bill- took 3 months to get a usable service they insisted that I had engineers to check line, sent one for phone then one for broadband then billed me for £250 for cost of engineers visits. Open reach said problem was true telecom equipment, they say no. Worst decision i ever made was to change, True Telecoms - nothing true about them, have reported to Offcom and will probably end up with Ombudsmen to hopefully get out out of contract.

Hi, we are having the same trouble with this awful company and now trading standards are taking on our case, although True telecom have stopped communicating with them, because they know they have breached their verbal contract with us, by not moving over our broadband, only our phone line, by saying the legal team would get any early termination charges from BT removed and they didn't, its all a big fat lie and lastly I asked if i could leave at anytime and they said yes but the biggest breach is they did not state that there was any charge to do this or the exact amount of there early termination fee. Biggest bunch of liars I have ever come across, anyone reading this DO NOT USE TRUE TELECOM....

True telecom don't even have a legal team, its the sales reps that do bad on your account!!

BT played me a recording of them phoning BT pretending to be my dad talking really posh trying to get out of the fine. My dad's from east London so doesn't even speak like that lol. I can't believe in this day and age company's operate like this!!!

“Tempted but No”

written by lyrawill on 27/04/2016

Received a cold call which sounded plausible. However asked for details in an e mail so I could check it really was good value and to see what customer service they offered. Of course they would not do that until I agreed to switch. Having read reviews here so glad I didn't agree. Any decent business would let you have the details in writing before committing.

Just had the same sort of cold call for my business use, but wanted to check them out first, glad I did!

spent months dealing with termination fees from BT after they sold me on we'd get our legal team to sort this. put me on wrong call plan then when I requested my calls to prove what plan I asked for, was told we cant let you have them.... wasted hours calling them, waited hours for promised returned calls nothing... seriously terrible company with no integrity and poor customer service.

“Cold calling.”

written by Park_Ranger on 13/10/2015

Cold calling, high pressure selling company, the sort of company you see on TV. I would advise you to steer clear and hang up on them, if you do want to use them you can sign up on their website. Overall rating zero stars. Call BT they will give you a better deal.

“disorganised company”

written by qcGillespie92 on 23/09/2015

only given one star because have to give something, call centre unhelpful, bills inaccurate generally money grabbing company which I would advise everyone to steer clear of. I need to phone frequently and they only have one number so keep getting line busy or line out of order presumably because of high call load.

“Pleasantly surprised - can't complain at all”

★★★★☆

written by VStedman9 on 26/08/2015

I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised, they're much better than BT but for a cheaper price. I'm usually weary of random calls so I phoned the customer services department to be safe and it was all legit. I had ten days to make sure I was happy with everything and spoke to my account manager who was really helpful. Our bills have shrunk significantly - only problem was BT digging their heels in and they're even helping me out with that too! I would definitely recommend

“Very pushy stay clear ”

Ive just received a phone call from what I was lead to believe we're open reach part of BT. I was asked for my name and address so they could send out information stupidly I gave it to them, then I was asked for my sort code which I denied to give. The sales person was very pushy saying giving out your sort code won't harm anything and will not be able to take money out of your account. I smelt a rat and refused to give it. He then stated I should research and call him back with my sort code. I WONT BE CALLING HIM BACK!!! I'm now worrying that they know my name and address! Stay clear

“Pushy and misleading”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LaurelRoss497 on 06/08/2015

My colleague took a call this morning from True Telecom. They mentioned openreach which lead her to believe it was related to BT, which caused a great deal of confusion. After more hard selling they then asked for our bank sort code, when my colleague began to smell a rat and tried to get off the phone they passed the call onto someone else to pile on more pressure. I decided to research the company and came across this site and told her to abandon the call having seen all the bad reviews. So thanks for the info! If a company has to put this much pressure on someone to get their business then they are a company that people are not going to by free will, undoubtedly for good reason.

“Appalling customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 417Coffey on 29/07/2015

I changed from BT to Truetelecom after being assured that True telecom would waive the penalty fee incurred for this. This has not happened , Despite countless telephone calls to customer service and the customer service manager I have been left to pay the fees myself after being pursued by a debt collecting agency. The only advice the girls in customer service have had to offer is that this is "scare tactics" on the part of BT. It isn't. I have suffered financial loss as a result of acting on True telecom's advice and there seems to be no system in place to reimburse customers who have lost out by having to pay penalty fees to BT- which is absolutely the opposite of what I was told . I am now having to take this up with the ombudsman as Truetelecom still do noy reply to my emails or phone calls. Avoid this company at all costs.

I also was cold called by True Telecom and because they promised to repay any charges from leaving BT I chose to give them both my business lines as they appeared cheaper. But with only one day to go before BT deadline of losing the broadband to True (they had already taken the line over but forgotten to do the broadband) I read the above review and his case was mirroring mine but I still had time to cancel True before taking me over totally. I was over the 10 day limit of changing my mind with True so wasn't confident I would succeed.I rang BT business who assured me that they would refuse True telecom taking over, credit my account with any charges that BT would make due to True taking it over. They also could take back the already taken over lines that True had grabbed. I had left it last minute to ring BT as True had promised their legal team would sort out the costs that were mounting up to near to £1500 in costs from BT for moving and this was too much to gamble on a guy from True Telecom who was rude, wouldn't put me through to a someone who I had been re-assured to keep True and in the end I put the phone down on him and rang BT. Cancelled True and was advised by BT to stop any direct debit authority that True had pushed me for in the initial call. SO ANYONE CONSIDERING A "CHEAP NO HASSLE DEAL" BY TRUE TELECOM - DONT DO IT! I am waiting for Watch Dog to get these guys....

“Horrendous experience. Avoid like the plague”

★☆☆☆☆

written by pyThorpe242 on 18/07/2015

We have been told that we have been issued with a deadlock resolution letter after weeks of phone calls and emails to True Telecom. They transferred the line without our knowledge and on the day the line was transferred we were told in writing, by the account manager, that we still could cancel the transfer. They are claiming that we are liable for a huge amount of money for breaking a contract on a deal which we have told them we weren't interested in. It seems that they are basing this decision on the fact that we didn't use the words "Can we have a cancellation number." According to True Telecom you can only cancel if you have a cancellation number. This was never mentioned to us until after the 10 days was up. They failed to cancel the deal on their system. They have admitted to another admin error but now they are refusing to even talk to us over the phone to discuss this matter. Shocking customer service. We feel completely ripped off both financially and emotionally. The amount of stress caused by this company has been unmentionable.

“Cold Call that almost felt misleading. I would take care.”

written by Daniela240 on 12/06/2015

Just received a call from someone who spoke so quickly that at first it seemed to be that the were from BT (British Telecom). Quickly saying "TT". The lady then rather implied that they were working for BT Open Reach and could give bigger discount on business calls than the BT side of the business. After a few more quick "TT" references the lady, when asked, said she was from True Telecom. Then I was asked my name the lady apologising that her computer had not brought it up at the moment[ Did her computer ever have it I wonder?]. I would just be very careful, anyone that is ambiguous in the way that I encountered this morning and, in making a cold call, feels the need perhaps not to be particularly clear, then I would just say "Take Care"

“Truely Unlimited!!!”

★★★★★

written by Jayjones1753 on 22/05/2015

True Telecom are far much better than BT. I'd been with BT for years and years, since, I think, 1991. I mostly stayed because I'd heard so many horror stories about other companies. Let's get one thing straight about BT, when they say their broadband is ' unlimited' it ISN'T! BEWARE THEY WILL CHARGE YOU THROUGH THE NOSE. Their customer service is absolutely appalling and a lot of it is out sourced to India. Anyway, I tried to sort out my broadband because with the phone I was paying over £130 a month. Through and error of theirs they did not apply my new services and billing. When I discovered that they were still billing me huge amounts of money, they weren't interested and completely refused to reimburse me. So I left and went to true. They didn't give a stuff even though I'd been with them for 24 years True sorted it out nice broadband that is unlimited cheep line rental and good calls Thanks true!

“Is it all a lie?”

★★☆☆☆

written by Titus26 on 08/05/2015

I changed to True in January after my BT bills started rocketing. I was told to ignore any charges BT made for leaving early as True would sort it out. Now in may I am getting letters from debt collectors on behalf of BT. My phone is cheaper than BT but I am not getting much help from True regarding the debt collectors. I keep being told the legal team is on it, email copies of all letters etc etc. I wish I hadn't changed over to be honest as it looks like I will have to pay BT for moving so in the long run it will cost me more than if I had stayed with BT. It could actually mean we have to close our business.

“POOR IN EVERY ASPECT”

written by bvsgarage on 28/04/2015

We are a business and we were looking for the best deal. Since moving to True Telecom 6 months ago we have had nothing but trouble. On transfer date we ended up with no internet, making it impossible to work (we were promised no interruption to business on transfer). Our line rental was apparently calculated wrong and has now gone up by nearly £5 per month (not what we agreed on transferring to them from BT). We have had nothing but trouble with our broadband, it kept cutting out. We have now upgraded to fibre optic and again more hassle, no internet making it impossible to take card payments, and run our online operating systems. We now have internet but I can't believe that we are on fibre when we are running at under 3meg and paying a whopping £39.99 per month for it!!! We are doing all we can to get out of this contract and will end up paying any cancellation fee just to leave and get a better service. VERY POOR customer service. BEWARE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED :(

“persistant cold calling”

★☆☆☆☆

written by TrystanProctor on 23/04/2015

My husband's business has been called several times by this company claiming to be part of BT or Bt openreach. Also claiming that the contract he has with BT has a get out clause because you would be transferring to them. BOTH THESE CLAIMS UNTRUE. They are relying on people not to check them out first.

“Misleading sales pitch and inefficient”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Livina on 17/04/2015

Part of the sales pitch to get me away from BT was that there would be no cancellation charges as there is a get-out clause in BT contract. Not true, BT did charge. Could not get any response from True Telecom for ages apparently they changed email address without forwarding old address on. They let the MAC number I gave them run out, the first I knew of it was when I got a broadband suspension notice. Very difficult to get email reply so wrote letters also received no reply. Tried to talk to my account manager about problems, he was busy and never got back to me. It is also true what the other reviewers say about the pricing; beware of the stuff they add on without you requesting it and the hidden costs. True Telecom is the worst company I have had the misfortune of dealing with. I could not work with them so have been charged a massive cancellation fee – but it would have cost me that in therapy treatment if I had to carry on working with them!

“BT confirmed this is a clever and expensive company ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by musicman185 on 26/03/2015

You are led into a false belief that it will be 1/2 price of BT. In actual fact your BT service comes with a certain amount of free minutes eg 5000 in my case. TRUE -TELECOM price is 1.1p per minute x5000 (in my case) with BT its FREE. They are so incredibly pushy and before you know it you have agreed to a 14 cooling off period, which by the way they charge you to cancel. I spoke to 5 different people 2 of which had the same name (coincidence??) They cold call you and if you are a push over this could wind up costing you a lot of money for a long time. Be very carefull. I have also read that high reviews are actually published by employees. However I can't prove this but to be honest in my experience I wouldn't be surprised.

written by Doggybolt on 26/03/2015

They promise the world, but once your contract has begun the truth emerges. Do not enter into any agreement with them over the telephone. I have been misled twice by them now. I am now in a three year contract for telephone line rental and unlimited Broadband although I am a low level user.
