paulshears's review of Intergas Boilers

“No post installation support! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by paulshears on 01/02/2016

Two months since commissioned.
Company refuses to provide support under warranty or via payment.
I am completely out of pocket.
Boiler useless.
I paid for an Intergas engineer to find the fault but Intergas have failed to send anyone after five days.
Service non-existent!

So three months later are you still waiting?

Why would they not deal under the warranty ?

Why did you have to pay?

Why post half the story and then disappear?

You say in your post that not only did Intergas fail to honour the warranty they also took money for a callout and they have not attended? How much did they take?
Surely someone has now visited in the last four months since you wrote the review?

Sounds very unlikely to me

Why they refuse warranty repair?

You posted that three months ago!

So what has happened since?

Why post half the story and disappear?

They flatly refused to come out under warranty because they claimed that my boiler was furred up with calcium! This is without even examining it. So that answers your warranty point.
Additionally they refused to send someone out if I paid them.
Got the message?
Zero support under warrant. Zero support if I offered to pay.
I had to go outside the company altogether to get the boiler fixed.
This is the full story.

Did you have a electrolytic water conditioner fitted at installation time?

At commissioning was the heating temperature limited to a maximum of 60 C

Without those precautions, they will scale up in hard water areas! As would any other similar design boiler.

1. Yes to both questions and they knew that both at the time and because I told them so when I made the call.
The response that I got was that the electrolytic water conditioner was irrelevant.
2. That would be one hell of a rapid scale up.
You are failing to get the message here.
You are applying critical reasoning which has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the real underlying problem.
By the way, the system is certainly not scaled up in either of the two boilers that I have.

Oh believe me 43 cock-ups in the 16 days it talk to install - some of which were repeated more than once - means that he is most certainly out of the loop.

This very experienced full time plumber who was gas safe registered & trained on this particular product became so stressed by the task after 15 days that he was looking for an excuse to get off the job ASAP - prior to task completion if I would agree.
I have the maximum guarantee as he was Intergas trained & registered as such.
But clearly had never actually installed on.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was the first boiler that he had ever installed and I suspect that it might well be the last.
I could write several hundred words on that fiasco which cost me hundreds of pounds to get a second trained Intergas trained installer to put right.
Intergas has gone way down hill as a business since I had the first boiler fitted.
Customer care is non existent.

I'm bound to say that I am still convinced that the idea behind the product is absolutely sound as is the product itself.
By the way, the parent company, Intergas in Holland, refuse to get involved and ignore communications sent to them.

So it was installed badly and that was the manufacturers fault? I think you were unfortunate that you found a sub standard engineer. 16 day install? Hope he wasn't on day rate.

No it was not the manufacturers fault. Neither is it relevant.
Read my comment.
No post installation support.
I had it put right at my expense despite a lack of supplier (Not manufacturer) support.
You can't dumb this whole mess down to a single sound bite.
You asked me about the installer. I answered. Now don't get confused by tying the two matters together.
The supplier (Not the manufacturer) have their own massive problems.

Why is the manufacturer responsible for installer error?

Now we see why Vaillant charge for call outs to non production faults. More should do the same.

It's not the manufacturer it's the supplier in the UK.
They train & recommend as a result their preferred installers and encourage the employment of these people by promising a massive warranty which then turns out to be worthless.
They don't get as far as ascertaining that there was an installer error because they refuse to get involved.
All installer errors were my problem and did not revolve around the product itself.
These were resolved, are irrelevant to this conversation and made no difference to Intergas complete irresponsibility.
Please totally disregard the incompetence of the installer. It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the lack of post installation support.
I already made that crystal clear in a previous comment above.
So Valiant charge for calls that are not covered by warranty / non production faults. Well of course they do! It's a legitimate business.
Intergas refused to even do that as I made perfectly clear above.
