“Looks nice. Shame about everything else.”

We had one installed last summer under one of the then current 'green' schemes.
From the off it was clear that the hot water supply was simply not up to the job; well over a minute to get hot water out of a running tap is simply not good enough. Still, we put up with it up 'til now as thought we were saving on gas consumption. It turns out that that isn't the case and our water consumption has risen considerably.
The final straw came when it refused to give any hot water at all. Probably a stuck valve somewhere but when I called Ideal to arrange a fix under warranty they wanted £56 to register the boiler first. Whether or not this is tucked away in the Ts & Cs somewhere this is completely unacceptable for an item that is less than one year old.
We will be acquiring a Worcester Bosch (just like the trouble free one that was previously installed and was just fine.....) and do not expect to go anywhere near an Ideal boiler ever again.
The free supply and installation is going to end up costing us upwards of £2000. The 'green' schemes are, superficially, a great idea but obviously give installing companies the incentive to put in ghastly products for their own financial gain and give the end user no chance to specify make or model and for that reason alone would appear to be fatally flawed.
