My experience of this bank should’ve done. All the signs were there. I ignored him leaving that this Newbank who were bound to have some teething problems would shine through and be just like a regular bank if not better. This bank has mishandled my business account on recognition. My direct debit‘s were all not paid on one month and they said this was an oversight! “Complete and time wasters”

I wanted to open a business account. I went into my Southend-on-Sea branch where I spent 1 hour going through a lengthy process of documents. I was told it should take 3/4 working days to get the application through. Almost 2 weeks later, I had not moved any further forward. I made 10 phone calls, of which only 2 were returned with false promises. I gave a deadline for them to get this finished, which was missed. “Worst experience ever!”

Went into the Harrow branch to open a bog standard business account. On arrival I was told I would have to wait approximately 90 minutes to be seen (have no idea why they would not then have an appointment system - clearly their walk in policy isn't working!). “Bully Boy Tactics”

Today Metrobank advised me after a review of my account that it will be closed, no explanation or time to arrange alternative banking. I raised with them the issue how they are producing false balances on accounts after checking my account at 4 am when they reconcile pending balances they take out the money with duplicate pending encroaching on your balance. “Gross incompetence”

I moved and had to update my address in about a dozen institutions. Metorbank took more time and effort than all other combined. Had me answer millions of questions to confirm my identity. Three months latter I found out that they have not updated my address, that my account is blocked because of this, and that I need to go in person to talk with them. “Incompetent employees & managers”

Visited romford store a few months ago to open a business account sat down with staff member who told a long pointless story about Metro Bank and then decided to show me around the bank, after at least an hour I was told my address check didn't go through and needed more ID. Why not cut out the rubbish in the beginning and start of with basics first so you don't waste people's time. “MISLEADING”

Advised to open a current account with Metro instead of a savings account , which is what I wanted to sign up for. They advised that the process would be identical with the added value of being able to make transfers etc from the current account. “CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS WORSE”

SO ANGRY , I cannot even describe. My daughter has 2 accounts with Metrobank, one savings and one current, which was DEFINITELY sold as a current account, but transpires to be a 'cash account'. She opened this as she had a young persons account with Lloyds and wanted a bona fida current account moving forward as an adult. Metro bank has got the worst customer service I have encountered. They do not care about their customers or take their jobs seriously. Their service is appalling and you can never get your work done in one go. There seems to be no employees available in their branches and the ones who do stand behind the counter are extremely rude. I tried to open a cuurent account with this bank. I waited 20 minutes in an empty bank before i saw someone. Then having provided several proof of address, including my current driving license, i was told that i had failed an address check. Huh ? Makes no sense to me. I have a perfect credit rating. After waiting for 2 hours and providing valid IDs and documents, the agent informed us that I am not eligible for a current account due to my passport and visa status. although I have a valid passport and a work visa that ends in 2020! Check all your refunds if you are waiting to receive money in my accounts as I had issues and they were not interested in helping me at all, almost two weeks later I am still waiting for them to resolve the issue, they never called me back as promised. Every time I ring for a balance I get told to hold the line as the first person has no idea how to do his job. If I could of given a corner of 1 star I would of. I have just wasted 30 mins of my time queuing to pay in a large cheque with no member of staff to help. I saw several other customers walk out in disgust as we were constantly ignored. Reason? Someone decided 2 classes of schoolchildren were more important than regular customers. They were allowed access to safety deposit boxes and totally swamped the bank foyer. Years ago banking was simple. You went in, transacted your business and came out a few minutes later. If you needed to consult someone about a loan or something you could make an appointment to see someone (if they were not immediately available, which they often were) You weren't asked to sit and wait for two hours as you can be with Metro. You always spoke to someone who has been trained, and not some KFC reject sitting at a terminal.
Banking in the 1970's was much easier, and hardly ever a bad experience. Progress? Don't make me laugh!
