“Citibank Japan the worst ever!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by iinaosuke on 02/06/2014

I have been a long time customer with Citibank Japan, and they continue to be the worst bank in Japan. They will not let you change your address, and will lock your account. When I asked where was customer service when they had a problem, and why did not they call me if they had a problem with the snail mailing, the staff said, Yes why do we NOT do this?? They make you fill out unnecessary forms, waste your time, and quote antiquated rules. One minute they will tell you they are an American Bank in Japan and have to follow rules from the US, and then they say they have to follow Japanese rules. Some of these rules are not even done by the main Japanese city banks, but some how Citibank has to follow these rules. In the past I have had every branch manager tell me how sorry they are at all the trouble. Some branch managers have even said how hard they will try to fix the problems, but always come back and say 'Sorry, it cant be fixed'. Finally Citibank includes marketing info in English in your account mailing, yet for the past 20 years these brochures are very poorly written. It makes you wonder who is in charge of Citibank Japan??? Individual account holders are always arguing with their customer service and corporate accounts cannot even get true internet service. In Japanese Citi-bank, is pronounced, shitty-banku, and Citibank sure lives up to how you would say their name in Japanese. Stay clear, you will be a lot happy by not dealing with Citibank Japan!!!
