“Cancelled route to Corsica with no apology”

★☆☆☆☆

written by onWard244 on 13/04/2017

Following announcing 12 new destinations from London Southend, an airport owned and run by Stobart Group, Stobart air as a Franchisee of FlyBe cancelled the twice a week route from Southend to Fiargi in Southern Corsica, starting 19th May 2017 without a word of explanation or apology.

They left it to FlyBe to either offer customers a re - routing, which on the day of travel offered no direct flights or cancellation and full refund and promise of a voucher to travel on another Stobart flight from Southend.

As local to Southend airport , which was the main reason for going, and bearing no cost to get to and from the airport I am now faced with travelling to and back from Heathrow, and having to pay my own costs to get there. In addition total travel time each way has extended to over 7 hours each way with flight changes required due to no direct flight availability

Stobart should not have been selling a route that was doubtful to go ahead and certainly should not hide behind Flybe to make apology.

Not going that extra mile to compensate customers for considerable inconvenience and their additional costs does little for their reputation and public relations particularly as the Stobart group sell themselves of the convenience of flying from London Southend.

Perhaps the senior management of Stobart Air and Stobard group would wish to consider their public relations policies. a written apology to all inconvenienced customers would be a start! I won't be singing Southend Airports praises like i use to!
