Supermar's review of Ryanair - www.ryanair.com

“I learnt my lesson: NEVER AGAIN!”

First and last time to travel with Ryanair. Low cost? Whatever. Let's see:
Abusive extra charges and hidden fees.
Extra charges push up price of flight and aren't well explained - what is an 'Ins & Wchr Levy'?
Ryanair's advertised prices are usually lower than those of their closest rival, Easyjet, but their taxes, fees, charges are often a lot higher.
Be careful when making your booking: to see whether you are getting a good deal, it is essential that you complete the booking process up to the 'payment' stage and then compare prices with other airlines, many of which have far lower fees.
My flight was a last minute one, it wasn't a £0.01 deal (which is never so anyway). I paid over £380 for around 2h flight. So far, ok. My choice. Now, being last minute, I couldn't print the boarding pass. They charged €40 to print one at the check in. Extortion.
I had hand luggage but now my handbag is considered "another luggage piece" and needs to go inside the hand luggage. Same applies to laptops, etc. Dictatorship rules!
Staff at the airport were rude, vacant and unhelpful. Endless queues (cos people take longer due to the surprising fees and policy, of course).
Seats uncomfortable and cramped, can't be reclined.
No complementary food or drink (fine, some others do the same) but it's overpriced and lousy.
The extra charges for everything soon mount up... Highway robbery really.
Don't pay extra for Priority Boarding passes. Ryanair didn't bother honouring this (at least not this time).
Customer service is overall disgraceful.
Outrageous charge of another £40 euro check in my hand luggage on the way back cos I have liquids on it and it was 600 grams over 10kg.
An automatic email with your bill (that I'm entitle too anyway) it's another €10.
Do not forget €15.50 for paying with credit card and another hidden charge, around €3.50 for handling the credit card????
Oh! And they disturb your little peace onboard trying to sell you... SCRATCH CARDS!!! I'm still under shock.
HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY THIS ALL THAT it's a mystery to me).
Any other airline will do in future thank you.

Actually just a question to Britainboy: Any chance you are working for Ryanair. You have commented on all the negative reviews of Ryanair I´ve read so far. You defend the company with your teeth, allowing them to behave like voltures as long as it´s mentioned somewhere with small print. Any chance they pay you for writing on this web-site..?

Having used Ryanair many times I know for a fact that extra charges are made very clear on the terms and conditions and throughout the booking proccess, so therefore are no "hidden charges". Most of Ryanair's flights have no taxes (particually on Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's). Also, you can print off your boarding pass up to four hours before departing where the flight can only be booked up to six hours before, giving you a minimum of 2 hours to check-in so it wasn't that you "couldn't print the boarding pass" its that you couldn't BE BOTHERED to print the boarding pass, which is always the case when one doesn't do it. "No complementary food or drink", that's the one that's always hacked me off the most, what do you expect with a low-cost airline? Some people expect the service of Emirates or Qantas when they fly with Ryanair, absolutely not!
