last night we arrived at the airport after a wonderful holiday to be told my husband could not fly as the plane was overbooked.Nobody said sorry, all we got told was we should have checked the overbooking smallprint. I spent 6 hours crying and then had a long drive home by myself. My poor husband is still in the air as he needs to be home tonight for a party his 3 hour flight will have taken nealy 7 as no direct flights availiable.British Airways are a disgrace, we had paid for our tickets what other company can get away with selling more tickets than are availiable and the measely compensation in no way makes up for ther distress and inconvenience caused by this practice.

Overbooking is standard practice. You were aware of this when you booked the tickets.
