Poor overall services

My wife and I used this airline to go to Panama leaving NY on July 8th 2016 and returning July 15th 2016.

I must say that both ways there were extensive delays in departure once on the plane. We were not given any information as to why there were delays. The staff servicing the passengers were good but they did not have any answers as well. leaving Panama we were waiting by the gate 2 hours early and at some point we were asked to all step out of the gate area and had to be rescreened again which tool over 1 hour on a line out side the gate. (Note this was by the gate we had already gone through screening and customs. Which is well before arriving to the gate.) My wife and I had purchased food to eat while on a flight. When i was rescreen at the gate the bag of chicken and bottle of water (whcih was closed) was taken away from us and I was informed that it was not allowed on the flight and this was AA policy. I told them that I was diabetic and needed to be very careful with what I ate and the selection offered on the plane was not helpful, I even showed them my medication to prove that I was not some passenger making this up, but this did not help. Needless to say I did not eat on the plane until I arrived in Miami and due to the three hour lay over I was able to get something to eat. let me say that my sugar level was extremely low.
The flight from Miami to New York was also delayed with no explaination as to why. Oh and on this flight I was allowed my water and a green apple I purchased in a store by the gate. I know times are tough and AA is not the same as in the past but customer services should not impacted the quality has really changed with the airlines it is so sad to have experience this.
