“Delays in Dallas on both sides of my round trip”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 27/07/2012

I just flew from Houston to Reno in July, 2012 on American Airlines and had to go through Dallas and change planes there on both sides of my round trip. On the first half of the trip, we boarded a plane in Dallas headed for Reno, and then we were told the two tires on the nose of the plane were flat and had to be changed. We were forced to deplane and had a 1 hour delay waiting for the repair. Then on the return half of the trip, we boarded a plane in Dallas headed home for Houston. It was supposed to leave at 8 p.m. and we were told the flight had electrical problems. We sat there for a long time before they decided to take the plane out of service. So again, we had to deplane. We were sent to another gate, which was a long walk away. When we arrived there, we were told to sit and wait for the crew, luggage, and caterer to get boarded on the new plane. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that plane also was not in working order, and we were then sent to another terminal! We had to take the sky tram to get there! Nothing was open in the airport in terms of food or drink, and since they didn't provide food on the 3 hour flight from Reno to Dallas, we were starving! Finally after sitting on that 3rd plane on the runway for a long time, we took off and landed in Houston at 12:30 a.m., 2 1/2 hours late, and arrived home at 1:30 a.m. My husband was waiting at the airport for us since 9:30 p.m., and he had been up for work since 4 a.m. the night before. We were never offered any complimentary food or anything as a result of all these delays and problems.
