My first 4x4, the X-Trail was bought to replace my Jaguar X-type. I wanted more luggage capacity and better ability to use the car in the winter, but worried that I was sacrificing comfort and performance. Bought the car as a two-month old demonstrator saving £6000 on list price. I have had the X-Trail for year now, and I am delighted with it. Nippy performance (for a 4x4), great comfort, huge boot and smooth driving on motorways. And all this with 44+ mpg. The Tekna also has a good spec with leather heated seats, sat-nav, key-less entry, reversing camera and built in MP3 player- it was these features which led me to choose it in preference to a Freelander, and I am glad I made that choice.
