“good bike if looked after correctly ”

★★★★☆

written by on 21/04/2013

i have had my hyosung for about three months and i have ridden it every single day not until recently has it been giving me some trouble. the oil has some reason gone this creamy collour and its not because theres water coming in i checked the whole engine over and there is no leaks not nothing but some how water was getting in to the engine. so that was my first problem. my second problem was that the bike was very difficult in a way that if it didnt want to do something it wont. i have had some days where it has decicded im not going to turn my lights on today and some times it decides im gonna set of the horn with out you even pressing the button. the bike was not looked after by the past owner so i cant really blame the bike as such but i do feel that the bike is a little bit cheap and could have done with just a little bit more work put into it. there are a couple of issues i have found that they could improve on. the wires they are all just sticking out the front like its a crazy mix. the connecters are out and open to the elements making the electrics very choosing and not working in all conditions. the battery is also out and open to the elements. the switches are very cheap and dont feel nearly as good as on other bikes. the light at the front is not well put in place feels like its held on by a peice of string. all and all you can tell its made cheap and isnt going to last long at the moment i have done 9000 miles and it needs a new engine already so i have decide to get myself a new bike. dont get me wrong the hyosung is a brilliant bike its just a shame they had to make it so cheap if it wasnt for that the hyosung would be one of the best 125 in the world peroid.

“The Hyosung XRX125 done about 8200 miles on my XRX,...”

★★★★★

written by on 30/08/2009

The Hyosung XRX125 done about 8200 miles on my XRX, it's a cracking 125, for the beginners and the experienced.

It's a nicely built, great quality bike with very good reliability.

It's a bike which starts first time every time, whatever the weather.

Awesome handling and comfort. Soft suspension just lets you bounce over bumps with such ease.

Huge upside down forks at the front.

Big size, nice and large for the taller rider.

Had 72mph out of mine (not downhill), and it's all standard.

Decent acceleration, easily beats most cars off the line.

Good brakes, front and rear.

Amazing fuel consumption, 170 + miles on one tank. 90mpg and only an 8 litre tank.

Sounds nice and beasty, and especially for a 125.

Can be picked up pretty cheap and being a 4 stroke, maintenance is easier.

Bad points:

Standard battery is fairly poor.
Finding neutral can be tricky.
Getting to the spark plug is a chore.
Parts can be hard to find, and cost a fair amount.
Some people say tyres are an issue, i find them to be brilliant in dry conditions, but in the wet they're not the best.

Easily one of the best 125's out there.

I'm very happy with mine, had no problems, been cleaning and lubing chain, washing her down, keeping her clean and keeping an eye on the miles for my next service. If looked after like mine is, an XRX will go a long way.

Highly recommended from me, a huge thumbs up.

“I have a Hyosung XRX 125 SM 2007 model in...”

★★★★★

written by milkster1001 on 20/05/2009

I have a Hyosung XRX 125 SM 2007 model in Orange/Black, and i've had this bike for just over a month now, i know that isn't long enough to right a review, but in the time i've had it, it really has impressed me.

First of all the name makes my mates laugh, as they think it's a "fall apart in 5 minutes chinese bike" but just like the expert reviewer said on here, it's actually a bike made from a Korean company. The engine is also a copy of a Suzuki GS 125, which is very reliable bike.

Forget the name, forget all that, what makes this bike so impressive is what it delivers. The performance is amazing for a 125, especially at an affordable price.

The cost to run the bike is probably the most cost efficient bike out there. The fuel doesn't just gargle up like some bikes. it costs around £4 to fill the tank up, it does 90 miles to the gallon, the oil hardly ever needs changing, as it hardly ever goes down, the brake fluid is just the same. You can even pick this bike up for crazy prices. I've seen them for £400. I however, bought mine for £1050 as it was almost new and from a trusted friend.

I have been on bikes before, tried out Aprilia RS125's, been on plenty of Suzuki's and nothing compared to this. Although the top speed on other 125 bikes can be about 120mph, i have got 70mph out of mine, and some people have got 80 - 85mph. It's acceleration isn't the best off the spot, but you sure can change into second, then third really quickly and get that boost.

It's a smooth ride, suspension is great, you can just glide over potholes, gently bounce of speed ramps, and it all feels perfect. The seat is comfy, there's room for a passenger, and 2 foot pegs that they can use. One of the best things (in my opinion) about this bike, is the engine sound. When you start her up, it just has a beefy roar to it, sounds really nice, especially when you go into a petrol station at night, and once you've paid, get back on your bike and start the engine, it sounds so loud and echoes in the station. That's pretty cool.

It looks like professional bike, not cheap or tacky, it looks solid and classy, especially for a trails bike. I've seen this bike in many colours, Black/Yellow, Black/Orange, Red/White, Blue/White, and they all vary so they will at least have one design that appeals to someone.

I have really enjoyed this bike, and i still have plenty more time to get everything out of it. This bike has lasted for years with other riders, and they haven't had any problems. As long as you respect it and don't go out 24/7 thrashing it, then this will go a long way.

If your looking for a first bike, with a quite some power, and don't want to go straight onto a scooter or a 2 stroke bike that isn't reliable, then this is the perfect bike to start off with.

Hope this helps.

“Hyosung XRX 125 is a four-stroke bike, in the very...”

★★★★☆

written by Mexerxes on 07/09/2008

Hyosung XRX 125 is a four-stroke bike, in the very popular 125cc off-road bike class, and although it has a lot to live up to, like the Honda XLR 125 or the Yamaha XT 125R, it holds it's ground pretty good. Most people, I admit, me too, when first hear the brand "Hyosung", become very sceptical and say/think something like "Chineese crap...". But the fact is that Hyosung is actually a Korean company, and has really gotten much better at building motorcycles, because it's been at it for over 30 years. On to the bike itself:
The first impresion is that it's bigger than you'd expect a 125'er to be. I know a lot of people say this about 125'ers, but come on - It's almost as high as a motocross bike, and when you go down the road you feel like you're riding a real bike.
Then comes the sound. This is one of the things that just got me on this bike, the sound was awesome! The exhaust has got a few holes drilled in the silencer, but im not angry at the previous owner for doing that, Now the Hyosung sounds just like the KTM 450 4stroke my friend has!
Some say the suspension is too soft, but I really like it, i can just fly over bumps and holes in the ground, although someone heavier than 70-80kg should think about uprating it.
The engine is a healthy 4-valve, 4-stroke SOHC unit that cranks out 12HP, a copy of the engine used is 125cc Suzuki's. Actually, Hyosung makes both engines, so the Suzuki is a copy of the Hyosung one :) It can't race the two-stroke bikes, but is more than enough for a learner or nice off-roading.
After being used to the two-stroke gutless low-down power and high top-end, i was surprised to feel that the Hyosung pulls well through all the rev-range. It has enough torque to pull up steep slopes or cope with easy-medium offroad tracks.
Now the fuel economy, prepare to be amazed - It drinks 2-2,5 litres of petrol for a 100km! That's amazing, I didn't believe it at first, but it's true, you can run it on cents :) and it doesn't drink any oil, unlike the two-stroke friends.
I was happy to find that the plastics aren't painted red - they ARE red :) and are very bendy, so when i fell a few times in the sand, there was minimal or no damage at all :)
Overall, the Hyosung XRX125 is the perfect solution for those, that want a good, reliable, very cost efficient off-road bike and can't afford the Japaneese bikes. If you buy the XRX and look after it, you won't be dissapointed.

“My Hyosung XRX125 is light on fuel. Made for all...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 21/12/2007

My Hyosung XRX125 is light on fuel. Made for all terrains and is very tough. My battery fails a lot and my suspension is a bit soft. Over all is this bike is the perfect start up bike, and has a lot of speed and power for a 125 and looks great.
