I'm spending up to £50 per week on lessons at the moment, is that the equivalent of the running cost of a horse?. I know you have to pay for rent on stables, feed, insurance etc, how much does it cost you? Question

I have owned a horse b4 and it came 2 Much Much more than £50... First u have stabling which can be anything up to £80 (!) usually around £65 for part livery. Then there is general stuff (worming, getting teeth done, getting shod, ect ect ect..)
or if the horse gets hurt u have 2 shell out a lot.
then ur horse may need special food and/or supplements. then Tack ,rugs , grooming kit and medical kit can come to ever so much. and u’ll need insurance. the list is endless!! but having said all this it is undoubtedly worth it! chickita banana xxx

My horse is on full livery at £60 per week, I share with someone so it actually cost £30 each. I have to pay for shoes which are £50 and detist / docs fees are extra, but she is worth it.

Hi chickita banana, I'm in Manchester, I did not realise how costs vary so much between different areas Surprised . Could you not share the costs with someone else like a close friend or relative? It actually works quite well for me at the moment, as the owner doesn't ride that much. Some day I would like to own my own horse and do diy livery, but working full time and diy may not be the best option at the moment as I wouldn't have much time for anything else!

I know somewhere that does full livery mon-fri for £50 odd but thats not the end of the costs. 50quid per week on lessons does seem a bit much though...
