I have recently come into a lot of money and am planning to buy a tiger. I was wondering how big a cage / enclosure I need to keep a Tiger in for it to be humane. Also, will it need another Tiger to keep it happy or would it be happier on it's own? Cheers. -

I think you need a zoo, or somewhere the size of a zoo compound to keep it. As well as special training. Don't you know tigers are nearly extinct and your keeping one and not knowing anything about them and how they breed won't help matters at all.
If you have all this money, surely it would be better put towards a wildlife group dedicated to helping save the tigers and their natural habitats. Try href="http://www.5tigers.org/" > 5 Tigers for more information. -

I agree with the person who replied to you first. If you don't want to donate money to a group for saving the tigers, then why don't you buy a male and female tiger, then donate them to a zoo that knows more about their habits, feeding and breeding and just go and visit them? If you don't want to do that, then I suggest you get a dog and forget about a tiger. They need LOTS of space to run, not to mention things that make their home like a natural habitat, and training if you don't want them to attack you. Plus, the climate must be kept right for them, and they need LOTS of food every day. If you think steaks are expensive, then be prepared to feed them probably over 5 or more a day (and I am sure that it is a lot more than that) Also you will need a special vet that will know what to do if your tiger is sick or anything. I have a question for you, did you think about any of this at all? Or did you just wake up one day and say, I think I want a pet tiger? Please, just think about the tigers ! -

Thank You Both For your help in this matter
. I thought I'd let you both know I've decided not to get a tiger as I'm slighty scarred for the safety of my children
. If anyones got any great ideas of exotic pets that are a bit better trained than a bengal tiger please post your suggests here. I want something that no one else has but that doesn't require as much space and food. I'm thinking something like a spider, snake or monkey. (Don't worry I won't get all 3). All suggestions welcome.

What do you mean, you want a spider? That's so boring. But if you want one, come to my house. I always see them in my basement. Haha.
Get a reliable dog. You could have so much more fun with a dog... like a golden retreiver or somthing -

I would certainly not recomend a tiger, even if you think you know everything about them you'dnever be able to have a enclousure big enough, even though at zoos are to small in the wild their territory is 100's or 100 of square km, you can't give them a wheel like you could a hamster to give them exercise and to kept them busy they belong in the wild. -

Maybe you could have a monkey then, well a marmoset, they still need very specific care and you'd need to research lots but you'd most probably have somewhere big enough for a enclousure. -
