I just got my quarterly BT bill and no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to get my family to make fewer calls. Sad I’ve heard about these cheap phone call companies – does anybody have any experience of them?

Hi Elephant... You can use a smart box to redirect your calls through the cheapest carrier. This means you don’t have to remember to type in any ‘code’ before you dial each time. You should save at least a third with one of these beauties Smile. You still pay the monthly line rental to BT so that if you have any problems with the line, BT still have to fix it. I’ve been using a Pig-shaped Telecom Plus box for about 5 years. I’ve never had any problems and it’s saved me £100’s of pounds – I know because every monthly bill shows the cumulative savings Surprised). I was so impressed I joined up as a reseller. Here’s a link to more information. TelecomPlus

    Hope this is helpful

Cheers for the link Soup Dragon. From the rates they quote it does look like they can save me quite a bit but I just have a couple of questions (just call me suspicious Smile ) – why do they insist on direct debit as the only payment method and why do they need £10 up front?

I guess Telecom Plus keep costs low by collecting the exact payment monthly by direct debit and by credit checking every applicant – that’s why they ask for a £10 credit in your account when you sign up (the initial £10 is a one-off and goes towards your calls anyway). Any problems and any unused credit is refunded. Hope this answers your question. By the way they also do the cheapest UK gas and electricity – here are the links for all three:

Any more questions, just post here and I'll do my best to answer them Smile
