    Hi There,

I was wondering if anyone here would know where I could either download or obtain a user manual for a '95 Honda Civic Coupe (1.5lsi)? I've just bought one, and the previous owner had mislaid it.

What is the general opinion of this car? I love it, but I know nothing about cars. Also, what does the LSI stand for, and is it a V-Tec engine?

    Thanks in advance Smile

    Kevin.

    Hi,

Sorry, don'tknow where to get a user manual, other than from a Honda dealer. The factory service manual is generally more useful (if you are planning on doing any work to the car). If you are lucky, you might be able to slowly download the factory manual from http://icelord.net/honda, but I got mine on a CD from eBay. (NB: this manual does not specifically cover the coupe).

I love my coupe and think your choice of car is very sound. LSi is the trim level. It means you get stuff like electric windows, and also means you have the 1493cc engine. This is not a VTEC engine, but it is slighty more powerful than the LSi hatchback.

    Coupe...
    Engine: D15B7
    Injection system: multi-point
    Output: 102BHP

    Hatch...
    Engine: D15B2
    Injection system: dual-point
    Output: 89BHP

If you love your Honda, you should consider joining Honda-R (www.hondarevolutions.com). They have a good forum, although I would also recommend reading www.honda-tech.com and www.automotiveforums.com. I would really like to hear more about your coupe.

Try searching for swap info at:

    http://forum.hondarevolutions.com (UK site)

    http://www.d-series.org/forums
    http://www.honda-tech.com

There is a lot of info available. If you want to upgrade to a 1.6 SOHC VTEC motor (the D16Z6) for 123bhp then it's fairly straight forward. You will need ECU from D16Z6 and you will also need to run an extra wire to it for the VTEC.

If you want to install a DOHC VTEC motor, such as B16A2, then it gets a little more complicated because you need slightly different motor mounts, driveshafts, etc. But it can be done if you really want that ~160bhp. Just make sure you do a lot of reading to decide exactly what you need first.

I have written this from memory - you would be best checking out all the details on the above forums.
So what is up with your motor anyway?

I have a 1996 civic coupe 1.5 lsi automatic. Lovely car apart from, the gearbox has just gone. brand new £4,000, so located one at a scrap yard but the code is slightly different on the gearbox itself. I have been advised the one i have located is from a Vtech but same spec car? does anyone know if i am ok to put a vtech gearbox on a car that is not a vtec?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Yes, you should be fine provided it is from a SOHC VTEC. A gearbox from a DOHC
VTEC will not fit your engine (but I have a feeling most of those are manual
    boxes anyway).

Try to find out if the replacement gearbox is from an ESi (D16Z6 engine) or
VEi (D15Z1 engine), in which case you are OK Very Happy
