I own a Euro (German) spec Civic Type R and I am finding it impossible to get hold of anything which really boosts the HP. I have added a new air intake and cat back exhaust and all I seem to have done is make the engine noise louder, with No noticable increase in power. In fact, it seems a slower car to drive now, and there is no V-tec kick any more.
Does anyone have any advice on how to boost Hp on the new Civic Type R? Apparently a Turbo is not a realistic option due to the already high engine compression. :? -

A fast road cam, and a good induction system will work well and give you increases in bhp, and responivenes. Also so you may benifit from fitting a new ecu...many plug and play models about at moment. However always get advice from a garage/tuner...not all people on the internet want to help you....buy the way fitting a turbo is possible!!!!
take care,
waiting for delivery of my new 2004 CTR...getting impatient now!!! -

It aint just as simple as buying an induction system, and sporty exhaust - some brands won't give you a HP increase (even though the manufacturer will insist it does), and some will even reduce performance.
I'm running a K & N Typhoon cold air induction kit, and a magnex s/s exhaust with a magnex de-cat. That has given me a tested HP increase of 9hp (mostly down to the de-cat)- which is, incidently, hardly noticeable - the roar of the car when it hits the magical 6K RPM is pretty amazing, tho! - worth every penny of the hardly noticeable increase in power
Interestingly, If i had listened to the manufacturers recommendations, i should be bragging that i am getting an additional 12 hp out of the induction, and another 10 out of the exhaust! - i guess the manufacturers are talking about the increase assuming the car was re-mapped or something.
U have 2 be quite selective. The typhoon kit i have is by no means the best - there are far better systems on the market If you are prepared to pay for them. I looked through CTR forums to determine the best gear i could afford at the time for my car.
Getting your CTR chipped (or even the OEM ECU replaced for a Hondata ECU) will increase power.
I wouldn't go bolting a turbo on either, but a supercharged CTR would be quite interesting! These mods could upset the mechanics at Honda a touch, though, if you ever go in to get some warranty work done!
