Anyone know how to hack the new tescos DVD/VCR combo to multi-region? The model is a Technika DVR100 but apparently its an Orion underneath the covers and it looks suspiciously like the vrd28 they make....

sorry dont know how to hack, but am looking myself into that, interested in you saying an orion underneath. As we are having problems in loading this dvr100 in our universal remote control, might try the orion codes see if it works.

I don't seem to be able to view my digital camera pics on the Technika DVR100 purchased recently at Tescos. Does anyone else have problems? Is it because the machine does not read jpeg files? Help please !!!!

this DVD/VCR is being sold at Currys for 79.99, down from 159.99 it's the Broksonic DVCR-810 and is identical to the Tesco one. ( i know, i saw them both ) but i am unsure if this is hackable. It is not Mpeg compatible so chances are, it's had it's VCD component disabled (where there is no hack for it) or removed. If i were you and your looking for a cheap CD/DVD combi go for the proline at Currys. It's not on sale, but retails at 79.99 it is VCD compatible (YAY) and i'm 99.98 & sure there is a remote hack circulating for this player. This proline also Ohhh and it plays your photo cds proline @ currys

The code for the Currys VCR/DVD combi is 0520 for region all (or 0521 for region lock of your choice) and i've just burned me 50 first dates mpeg as VCD, and watched it on this system.... v.good quality player. (recorded training day from DVD to VCR the other day - can't fault it)
Yet to try the jpeg images....but i didn't want it for that anyways, so far, this system rocks, for what i want it for. I shall keep y'all informed of the jpeg situation.

    Jpeg playback is first class.
If you press [play] it will slide show them
if you press [enter] it will play individual shots.

I find a couple minor faults...one for me is that when you've gone through (for example) 20 images, you press menu, and you see the list of images, and the last one you chose will be highlighted. To scroll back to the top, you have to do it indivdually...you can't just press ^(up).
Secondly, the softwarte is a little slow, but it isn't that much of a problem, it plays everything, and for that price, who can complain?
(i did say they were minor faults)

as for the technica dvr100 - this won't do what the currys dvd/vcr can do, and it's a lot more expensive too.

    Hope this has helped y'all.
