Connection question

I have a tv, video and freeview set up and would like to use a seperate portable tv elsewhere in the house without the need for extra cables etc.....I presume Digisenders take a signal ex-reciever and not just from the end of the coaxial cable...so can I connect the scart output of the VCR on the tv 'channel' to the digisender as a sending signal? So that I change channels using the VCR remote for the terestrial channels and therefore not impeding the full control of the freeview box in the main room?
