Hi all,



Lets get a few things sorted out here to help other members!



Unlocking - Removing Sim locks to allow other Sim cards to be used

Unblocking/Unbarring - Changing IMEI to allow a barred phone to be used.



It is easy to unlock most handsets, just do a Google search on your handset and a solution will appear, it may cost you a few quid but thats life. To unblock or unbarr a phone is illegal in most european countries. Some older phones can be done with software but most newer handsets can only be done using complicated soldering and programming techniques and once again it is illegal. If you have a second hand handset that is suddenly unable to make calls then you have probably been had. The old user has made a claim on his insurance and got a new one, the network then barrs the handset (yours) and it is useless in the UK. Sell it on ebay or use it for parts.

If a phone is blocked from a network by the IMEi because it was reported lost or stolen, then it cannot be unblocked as it is illegal to change the IMEI of a phone.



possible for you to email the prog/s as a zip file ?

always got mates wanting their mobiles unlocked and a lot easier to do it from the pc rather than havign multipe requests at once !

Not all phones are unlocked by just software. Some need hardware and tools to open the phones and also cables for each individual phone.



YOu will find some free software for unlocking some nokia handsets over the internet but most other phones, the equipment has to be purchased.
